Is it possible that the Pubs hated Clinton as much as I hate Shrub?
I just heard his disgusting voice on my TV in the background as I was walking to the kitchen to get a beer. As I walked, I kept repeating I HATE HIM, I HATE HIM...

I wonder if the Pubs did the same thing when BC was our Prez?

1. I don't think so
I haven't been able to look at chimp on tv in six years -- before that it was his dad I couldn't look at, and before that I got to the point where I couldn't look at Ronnie Rayguns. My hatred is as pure as is their evil, and not tainted with the fascination and obsession the theocratic right had with Bill Clinton.

26. The Repubs hate(d) Clinton because he was a DEMOCRAT!
Edited on Fri Jun-30-06 04:56 AM by itzamirakul
They had NO OTHER REASON for hating him as they did and still do.

From 2001, I have a favorite comment for Republicans...

"Remember how much you hated Bill Clinton? Well, multiply that by 10 and you'll get some idea of how I feel about Bush."

Edit: spelling

3. Yes
It's more than possible. It's likely.

This is a good opportunity to warn all of you: when Duh-bya is finally booted out of office, whether he's impeached successfully or his regime runs its course, don't do what the RWers have done - keep talking and grousing about him after he's been out of office for years. Mark my words: we'll regret it.

The RWers can't shut up about Clinton. They drag him out almost every time they open their mouths. Doing the same thing with Duh-bya will make us look as bad as the RWers.

8. That's going to be a tough thing to do!
Do you realize how many things he's f'd up already? How is it possible NOT to place the blame where it belongs?

I know the RW still blames Clinton for everything, and perhapse some of it is valid, but very little! The majority of what they blame him for has no link at all! With Shrub, damn near everything IS his faulty mismanagement!!!

How can that be ignored?

9. I Know
I agree with everything you said. It will be hard. And I'm not saying that we should stop commenting on Dumbass after his reign - err... term - is over. We just have to be careful lest we be like the RWers, trotting Clinton out during every conversation six years after he left the White House.

Eventually, we're going to have to let it go; the results of "Decision 2008" notwithstanding. And fight to restore rule of law to this country!

Absolutely not! If the Republicans won't hold him - and themselves - accountable, we will. I completely agree.

23. Absolutely.
I know a right-winger who has festooned his TV room with anti-Bill & Hillary propaganda. Really. It's pathetic.

President Clinton has been out of office for 6 years, & this guy's still carrying around this venom. I don't get that at all.

Edited on Fri Jun-30-06 12:20 AM by TwentyFive
If there was ever a family who has done the most damage to the US...it is them. I wouldn't elect any of them to even dog catchers. They'd be too cruel to the dogs.

The only bright spot is the kids are druggies/heavy drinkers. Hopefully their brains will be too soft to run for office, and they can live off dad's illegally gotten millions.

Edit:for clarity.

11. The Bush's were the first to show disrespect for the office
I was shocked when I heard Barbara and George Bush Sr. refer to their opponents, Clinton and Gore as "bozos".

They are the ones who knocked civility way down.

14. I remember the last week of the 1992 campaign
Bush campaign tried to 'prove' that Clinton went over to the USSR during Vietnam and denounced the US. Carville caught it, and Clinton came out IMMEDIATELY and told Bush that his father would be ashamed of him for reaching down so low. Bush retracted the story.

Yeah...they knocked civility way down. John Gotti was more innocent and had more class.

7. Yes they do
When you look at the list of stuff they concocted that they claim he did, well hell I'd hate him too if I believed it. But that's the difference, Clinton didn't run drugs out of Mena or kill Vince Foster or pimp out the Lincoln Bedroom or sell secrets to the Chinese.

Bush really and truly did all the things we hate him for, and even if Clinton did do the things they hate him for, he'd still look like a peewee leaguer compared to this Bush gang.

13. I suspect our anger and loathing tops theirs.
B*sh has a far lower approval rating than Clinton ever had. The number of people who moderately disapprove of * is higher than people who moderately disapproved of Clinton. * is widely thought to be the worst president ever.

From what I see, the level of neck-vein-popping outrage, and abject loathing from the Left, surpasses the ruffled-feathers-disgust of Clinton from the Right.

We could disagree and even hate Reagan's politics - but still think the man was somewhat decent and civil. But Bush is hated through and through....and for very good reasons.

19. I've always been carefree, happy-go-lucky,
interested in anything except politics, until Chimpy Assh*le came along. I was a little upset when he got elected, but back then I assumed he was going to be like B*sh Senior, which was only moderately bad.

I didn't get hopping mad until the Iraq invasion. Gradually and steadily, I despise the * Administration more and more. I'm beside myself with fury, every time I even think about the rotten * Administration! Every single thing (99%, anyway) they do pisses me off and rattles me to the core.

But yes, I agree. Right wingers are always pissed off and hateful about something. Getting liberals this angry and venomous takes some work. Those evil f*ckers earned our spite.

24. Yep ...
I now look back at regret for not being more involved in politics in the 90s ... I was just trying to find my way in life, but I knew that Clinton was a decent man as president, really wanted to do the right thing, and was in fact a pretty darn competent president at worst, and that it just was not right how the right was out to get him at all costs ... The whole Limbaugh "liberal" hating thing bothered me, but I just wasn't that invested ...

As the 2000 elections rolled up ... I knew, in every fiber of my being, that Bushco was a disaster waiting to happen, and I mean that ... My gut in looking at him, his history ... I still remember election day vividly, I was going to meet people in a bar, and had been watching the elections and how they "turned" at the end ... I remember telling people we were in DEEP shit, and they just kind of had that disconnected, what can you do attitude ...

As much as I was was VERY troubled by this clown getting "elected", he actually has been 100 times worse than I thought ... 9-11 ... The event was bad enough on its own merits, but in the end, the greatest damage done by 9-11 was that it gave this guy and his crew TOTAL validation to do, literally, whatever they wanted ... And, the people of this country should be freakin embarrassed for allowing it by voting for this retard again, and empowering the R party to back his play to the hilt ...

Today, I don't know if I would have made a difference, but if I had my life to do over, I would have been MUCH more involved in politics in the 90s ...

As for the question ... As many noted, as much as our hatred of this guy is based on shear destruction of our way of life, and their hatred of Clinton was based on sheer loathing of not having a stooge in office, YES, they hated Clinton as much as we hate Bush ...

16. No. They felt they hated Clinton. You KNOW you hate Bush.
The conservative dislike of the Big Dawg was entirely emotional. If President Clinton had been a Republican, he would have been regarded by them as a fairly successful conservative, guilty of "a youthful indiscretion".

Your hatred of Bush is also emotional, but that emotion likely stems from the clear extralegal and incompetent behavior of the President. You likely don't tolerate his actual and highly questionable actions as President. Your hatred, if it's anything like mine, comes with footnotes and an index.

Our pal Steven Colbert is getting a lot of well-earned mileage out of the disparity between "facts" and "feeling." I think this is a prime example of that curious phenomenon.

17. Facts & feelings. Interesting!
I never thought of it like that, but it's true! I didn;t "like" Reagan, but I didn't hate him! I remember seeing him walking to the 'copter indicating he couldn't hear and thinking he was pulling a snow job on the press.

I remember hating George H because my son was on a ship in the ME and he had the balls to stand on a golf vourse and say he ordered an attack on Iraq! On a damn golf course!!!!!! But I didn't hate hi like I do "W". There's something about him that I can't stand to see his face, hear him try to talk, or even listen to clips on the radio!

21. Clinton
Their "hate" for Clinton was phony.

It was pandering to the religious right to get them to vote for them.

We've seen more Republican sexual scandals, multiple divorces and affairs with their top
guys over the Democrats.

It was just pure politics.
