Gitmo is just 1 place where we torture P.O.W.'s, there are many others.

I never understood what the military point of Gitmo was, we can torture anyone we want, anywhere or time, yet we kept this facility in everyone's eye. Why? To show the Americans the actual proof that we were rounding up terrorists?

Is Guantanamo Bay just for show basically? They always went to great lengths to say that they were being treated harshly there, but not tortured. Yet they tortured with wild abandon at Abu Ghraib, which was all very hush hush till some fools let slip their war trophy gag photos.

If they close Gitmo, theoretically speaking, it won't slow down the real torture that's going on in secret. I think more than anything, Gitmo was a showplace to exhibit the bad guys like animals in a zoo for the simple minded believers.

Otherwise they'd have tortured them all to death there years ago.
