Larry Johnson: "When is Killing Children Right?" - Beware: Reality

We do not know if this child was Muslim or Christian. Probably not Jewish since she was killed during an aerial attack in Lebanon by Israeli pilots.

This child was burned by an exploding bomb in Lebanon. We can find pictures as well of Israeli children, blown to bits, maimed and burned.

We also have the images of Jewish children, who were starved and murdered in ghettos set up by Christians who were Nazis. Despite history, we learn nothing. Muslims angry at Jews justify killing Jewish children. Jews angry at Muslims justify killing Muslim children. And Christians, angry at Muslims, Buddhists, Communists, and other Christians, have justified killing all of those children.

<clip>

When do we make it stop?

Not until we stop worshiping idols.

Not until we stop worshiping money.

Not until we refuse to provide any form of authority to those whom lie.

Not until we realize that the life each person has is all they ever will be.

"Unto the least" is the one true metric of whether homo sapiens will continue to evolve, or will be the cause of destruction of the only known place in the universe that has ever been inhabited by life.

Peace.

2. Powerful and insightful. We need to stop killing people period.
But it is really disturbing to see these children.

13. Stop it. Stop!!!!
Think!!!! Think about the consequences of "blind", tunnel-visioned, opportunism. Eventually, it scars the soul, forever and ever.

4. I'm glad he said that
There should be the same compassion for Israelis and Lebanese.

“ Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate; violence multiplies violence; and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction…The chain reaction of evil---hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars – must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the darkness of annihilation.”—Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

5. "... or we shall be plunged into the darkness of annihilation.”
One of Dr. King's greatest statements.

Thank you for posting it.

Peace.

7. Until we find peace within our own hearts
One who can control himself when in anger, in passion, in fear, and in attraction is safe from the hands of the devil and the fires of hell.

One who suffers oppression and foregives the oppressor is the most favored for aid from God.

8. the human animal
Do you really think the human race is going to be rational when they hold the belief that they can gain by harming another?

16. Continued evolution or extinction - the choice is ours as it has never ...
... been for any other species on this planet.

It's just that simple.

Welcome to DU.

This line in particular -though I personally would extend that to all non-human creatures as well :) :
Not until we realize that the life each person has is all they ever will be.

There is no excuse for human beings to take a gift of free will and apply it in such a way.

NONE.

14. I would love to see that question put to a Bush supporter, or Bush himself
in a setting where they had to provide an answer.

When dealing with questions like that they almost always speak in abstractions, using words and phrases like "honor", "cut and run", "stay the course", "war on terror".

If Bush was forced to actually provide (I mean attempt to provide) a coherent answer to that question in front of a national audience, I honestly believe that his approval ratings could go into the single digits.

15. Agreed. And, we need to encourage those who have access to him ...
... to ask exactly these questions. He is inescapably responsible - history will ensure that.

Whether he's held accountable during his life is the only open question.

:hi:

Peace.

17. Wake Me Up When September 11, 2001 ends.
They want us to support that. I don't see it happening. It'll be a cold day in hell before they'll get me to support that. That is so wrong. Never. It's NEVER right to kill children. The bastards.

18. Trouble is, pro-lifers have been asking this very question,
however disingenuously, for a long time in regards to the abortion debate.

Which sucks.

19. Except a Fetus Isn't a Child
Point at a fetus and you're pointing at a woman. Point at a child, and you're pointing at a child. If you were to put a child into a uterus, i would quickly suffocate.

20. You know that, I know that, and a great many others know that.
But the far right gets a lot of political mileage from blurring the distinction.

21. Day after day, the ethically impaired continue their task... K&R
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 04:17 PM by autorank
...death and destruction. Unfortunately, this impairment gives the individual just what it takes to seek and take power; and keeping it at all costs.

Earth is the only known place in the universe with us, that's without doubt. The invasion of Lebanon and the tragic outcome for innocents on both sides actually revivified that grand thought but with a twist. I wondered if the universe had evolved all these eons as a process of pushing humanity into fewer and fewer locales due to our spectacularly destructive nature. Perhaps, this is our last stand against nature, I thought. We're not doing so well in the fight to survive. Our chickens have come home to roost. Our last chance may be to get the simple messages...there is never any excuse for this type of violence, period, and show respect for humanity and nature at all times. In my "strange universe," our future is summarized in the current horse race between annihilation of the species through climate change (i.e., the slowly boiled frog) or total self destruction through nuclear or other weapons of mass extinction. How far we've come, how little time left. I know there's a third possible outcome but I can't quite grasp it now.
