I attended an extraordinary workshop today, and there is one thing in it I feel it is important to share with everyone who is upset about what is happening to innocent children – innocent anyones, but most especially innocent children and babies – in the middle east. This was at the UN, and it was a workshop on shamanism, led by Sandra Ingerman.I know this may be off-putting for many, but please bear with me for just a little bit.
One thing she said struck us all very hard: in the shamanic view, to send someone pity is really to bring them down, to weaken them.So when we think of those babies and children and cry for them, we are weakening them.We should be thinking of them as strong and beautiful, and able to deal with what is happening to them, no matter how horrible. No, you say?
Imagine this:10 million people are thinking about you and feeling sorry for you.
Or
10 million people are thinking about you with encouragement in their hearts and respect for you and your incredible strength.
Honestly, which would you prefer?
