but the last time I was in the Quarter on Decadence there was just as much heterosexual activity as gay activity. Yuo'll find The gay stuff about the 700 to 1200 block of bourbon and the straight sex (on the balconys, on the street is from about the 400 block to the 700 block but the straight decadence is ignored by those lurking with their cameras for "educational" purposes. We'll support the investigation into this crime in any way we can, and make sure that it is adequate.

Beloved Daughter (9) and I were in the Parade with the PFLAG contingent. For safety and convenience-related reasons, we were directed to drive down to the Old Navy Hospital Parking Lot near Balboa Park (and park there). Security watched us, and there were plenty of people. We then boarded a bus, and went to the staging area. The buses shuttled participants and parade-watchers back and forth (and attendees at the festival).

During the parade, the authoritian, conservative fundamentalists were restricted to a small area; police in riot gear stood between them and parade participants (and, yet, I was able to flash them an appropriate gesture).

Then, police and security were there as we marched to the festival, and shopped at the festival. My friends manned both the PFLAG and San Diego Democratic Club booths. Most of the participants went a short distance from the festival exit to the shuttle-stop, security (and police, I believe) watching.

So, it was a safe and wonderful experience for us. I grieve that it wasn't for everyone.

And I pray for the speedy recovery of the victims and the quick apprehension of the perpetrators.

The term gay-bashing always referred to horrible incidents like this.

Then someone decided that if you insulted Rush you were "Republican bashing", or if you mocked Falwell you were "Christian-bashing", and the terms "PC" and "get over it" sprinkled the air.

This incident brings us back to what gay-bashing refers to. Bats to the head. Or worse. Beucase of who people choose to love :(
