Poll question: Do you want to be treated like a dog or a human being
This is inspired by this post http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x2217827

Some strange posts by DU'ers in that one.

Dogs are unable to express their desires in regards to medical treatment in a rational manner. They are unable to verbalize such. A human being can. We can decide what medical procedures we do not want performed on us. But seems there are some who think others should have a say. Guess that question goes something like this "What would you like us to do to your dog, err, I mean your husband?"

Who agrees?

1. I agree with your premise
but obviously family members will need to give consent for procedures when the individual is unconscious, so you might want to reword.

3. I'm just saying that people may be confused by the wording of the poll
and vote for the first option, when that might not be what they believe.

5. Body language can tell a lot, even for a dog.
Anyone who owns a dog or cat, can usually tell if they are sick just by looking at them. I had a dog that was about 30 minutes from dying and he leaned on me, looked me right in the eyes like he knew he was a goner.

Dogs don't get sent to war, well some do. Dogs don't have to work for $5.35 an hour and raise a family of four. I don't agree with the premise.
