I avoided reading that thread when it first went up, as it seemed a bit complex to tackle without some coffee. Having read it now I just cannot believe the histrionics people are showing in there. Are people really so married to their chosen candidate that any honest analysis turns them into raving jackals?

Thanking DU for support during her cancer, IIRC. I have never once seen anyone detract.

8. Roxy, they're trashing the tone of the story, no doubt deliberately set by

the reporter who was asking questions designed to evoke layered answers that could be taken the wrong way.

Those reacting to the tone shouldn't be attacked anymore than Elizabeth should without giving fair consideration to the idea that the reporter set the article up for this very purpose.

We've seen it thousands of times with a press determined to strike any Dem and the people around them.

Yet what did USAToday's Walter Shapiro's yearlong travel with the Dem primary candidates in 2003 reveal? That after spending alot of time with all of them, they were all pretty genuine, but Kerry is the one you find yourself wanting to spend the most time with and he goes into detail why in his book.

And the Iowa service industry people who weighed in on a survey gave Kerry the highest ratings on thoughtfulness and consideration to hotel staff, servers and waiters and waitresses and busboys, et al.... yet those stories get buried.

So, it's just wrong to assume what alot of people think, when it doesn't necessarily reflect the reality. What people are being TOLD to think through the media and the detractors is a more accurate description.
