What My Father Saw at Nuremberg - By Christopher Dodd
What My Father Saw at Nuremberg
Sixty years ago today, my father watched the U.S. win the battle of ideas. Have we lost our way?
By Christopher Dodd, SEN. CHRISTOPHER DODD (D-CONN.) is a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
October 1, 2006

............

Because the United States stands for something more.

Now, as then, this nation should never tailor its eternal principles to the conflict of the moment, because if we do, we will be walking in the footsteps of the enemies we despise. By abandoning the rule of law, as Congress did last week, we will lose much more than what we gain.

In the end, it's not about them — it's about us. It's about staying true to the values and principles that have always made our nation unique.

We would do well to remember the words of Justice Jackson: "We must never forget that the record on which we judge these defendants today is the record on which history will judge us tomorrow. To pass these defendants a poisoned chalice is to put it to our own lips as well."

4. Pity that, in fact, Nürnberg WAS "victors' justice", just as Goering said
And the proof of that is that there have been plenty of wars and crimes against humanity since, but essentially no prosecutions. They hanged Hideki Tojo and would have hanged Hitler, but Pinochet and Kissinger are protected. Hussein is enduring a Stalinist show trial, but the Zionists who headed the attacks on the Arabs living in their section of Palestine after Partition never got more than a pro-forma scolding. Milosevic was tried by the ICC, but Karadjic and his military henchman whose name I can't remember are still walking around loose. The grunts at Abu Ghraib were imprisoned, and that woman military cop was busted to colonel, but the chain of command walked away clean and the torture still goes on.

Dodd has to know that.

5. If you're going to shove torture down peoples' throats, and unjust,
illegal war, in a democracy, you have to rig the elections. That's what Dodd helped the Bushites to do. He was the chief 'Democratic' engineer of the "Help America Vote Act" of 2002, which resulted in Bushite corporations taking over our elections with electronic voting machines run on TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code--code so secret that not even our Secretaries of State are permitted to review it!

And here they are...

DIEBOLD: Until recently, headed by Wally O'Dell, a Bush-Cheney campaign chair and major fundraiser (a Bush "Pioneer," right up there with Ken Lay), who promised in writing to "deliver Ohio's electoral votes to Bush-Cheney in 2004"; and

ES&S: A spinoff of Diebold (similar computer architecture), initially funded by rightwing billionaire Howard Ahmanson, who also gave one million dollars to the extremist 'christian' Chalcedon Foundation (which touts the death penalty for homosexuals, among other things). Diebold and ES&S have an incestuous relationship; they are run by two brothers, Bob and Todd Urosevich.

These are the people who "counted" 80% of the nation's votes in 2004, under a veil of corporate secrecy--thanks to Christopher Dodd, working closely with the biggest crooks in the Anthrax Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney, to pass the democracy-killing HAVA bill.

The third major election theft industry player is SEQUOIA, which hired Republican Bill Jones, former Calif Secretary of State, and his chief aide, Alfie Charles, to peddle their machines--in an outstanding example of the highly corrupt practice of "revolving door" employment. Jones and Charles brought this election theft technology to California. Now they sell it.

In addition to destroying transparency in the counting of our votes, HAVA failed to guard against lavish lobbying of election officials and legislators, paperless voting (unrecountable, unverifiable elections), extreme insecurity and hackability of the machines, secret industry "testing" of the machines, and corruption and secrecy of every kind. HAVA is the worst piece of crap legislation ever to be signed into law. We now have a President and a Congress (s)elected by Diebold/ES&S, and not by us. And THAT is how we could end up with Congress endorsing torture!

----------------------------------

Christopher Dodd is the biggest hypocrite in BushWorld. This pious crap about Nuremberg turns my stomach. He announced his "exploratory" campaign for president on the Al Franken Show a couple of weeks ago. What kind of deal does he have with Diebold/ES&S?

6. One could easily conclude we now fight for an idea, the idea of land
and treasure, more specifically for oil, hegemony, and empire, to wit: the simple idea of the RW PNAC agenda being implemented piece-by-piece, day-by-day to to roar of inexplicable numbers of Amerikans.

7. I appreciate Senator Dodd's words here and during the Gonzales hearing.
However, even after the vote Dodd said he wished Lieberman had won the primary. He then more or less said that now he was supporting Lamont because he had to, but it was half-hearted.

I had hoped that after this vote Dodd would come out swinging for Lamont. In fact, I'm going to call him right now and tell him so...
