Rice Dismisses Charge That She Ignored Qaeda Warning

SHANNON, Ireland — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said it was “incomprehensible” that she could have ignored dire terrorist threats two months before the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Her remarks were meant to rebut an account in a new book by Bob Woodward saying that she failed to act on warnings from George J. Tenet, who was then the director of central intelligence. In her first direct comments about the book, Secretary Rice told reporters traveling with her to the Middle East on Sunday night that she did not believe there had ever been such an exchange with Mr. Tenet. Nor, she said, did she remember if she even met with Mr. Tenet in the White House on July 10, 2001, the date identified in Mr. Woodward’s book, “State of Denial,” which went on sale last weekend...

Ms. Rice also disputed other material in Mr. Woodward’s book, including his report that the Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, was so disdainful of Ms. Rice during President Bush’s first term that he refused to return her telephone calls from the White House. “Secretary Rumsfeld has never refused to return my phone calls,” she said. “The idea that he wasn’t returning my phone calls was simply ludicrous.”

She also disputed Mr. Woodward’s suggestion that she had urged that Mr. Rumsfeld be replaced in President Bush’s second term. “I did not try to get the president to change his Secretary of Defense,” she said...

15. Have you ever had one of those days

you know probably back in your rowdier crazy days when you made it into work and probably shouldn't have been there. Months later you run across something you actually produced in that fog and now you can't make head nor tails of it. What the hell was I thinking? What WAS this supposed to be? you ask yourself....well that is the Bush administration. They are either drinking so heavily to wash away the horrible nasty thoughts of what they are doing, and not doing, that each day is just a hazey struggle OR they are really that incapable (not that anyone would call them on either mind you).

We all thought it was just distraction and "quick reaction" politics when in fact they are constantly juggling questions versus what any of them can remember from the day before-they aren't necessarily lying they just can't keep their story straight. Bush says that he wants everyone to leave at 5 so they can spend time with their families, I think 5 is as far as they can go each day. They don't ignore the press because they hate them they insulate themselves from anyone that might let the secret out. Ever wonder why no one knew is invited in?

Anyone who has ever known an alcoholic has seen this before.

and have been trying all this time to hide the fact that they have absolutely no idea what the hell they are doing. Anyone with any competence is not allowed in because then that person will see that these assholes do not really have the slightest concept of what the hell is going on around them.

8. Boy, Condi has made a MAJOR MISTAKE here ...Woodard probably has tape

of his interview with Tenet and Black. I doubt he would have included it in the book without rock solid sourcing.

THis is her typical response to any embarrassing screwup on her part. REmember when she said no one could have imagined terrorists flying planes into buildings?

Anyway - she said Condi did not recall meeting with Tenet and that sometimes when a person leaves office (Tenet) - they'll say things to help their legacy. I guess she's forgetting it's already been established that Condi is a liar.

...she is a joke. She cannot see far enough down the road to know that Woodard has solid sourcing on this and an "I do not recall" or "they have faulty memories" response just shows how naive she is.
