E-mails Show Foley Sought to Rendezvous with Page
http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/10/emails_show_fol.html

In addition to explicit sexual language, former Congressman Mark Foley's Internet messages also include repeated efforts to get the underage recipient to rendezvous with him at night.

"I would drive a few miles for a hot stud like you," Foley said in one message obtained by ABC News

The FBI says it has opened a "preliminary investigation" of Foley's e-mails. Federal law enforcement officials say attempts by Foley to meet in person could constitute the necessary evidence for a federal charge of "soliciting for sex" with a minor on the Internet.

In another message, Foley, using the screen name Maf54, appears to describe having been together with the teen in San Diego.

Maf54: I miss you lots since san diego.
Teen: ya I cant wait til dc
Maf54: :)
Teen: did you pick a night for dinner
Maf54: not yet…but likely Friday
Teen: ok…ill plan for Friday then
Maf54: that will be fun

16. Well Newt has a rather specific definition of "sex". Doesn't include BJs,
for example. I suspect to Newt if it ain't one man and one woman in the missionary position (man on top) with simultaneous orgasms while the penis is fully inserted into the vagina, it ain't sex.

25. "Simultaneous orgasms"
I doubt Newt cares that much about his partner's pleasure, the definition should be 'one man and one woman in the missionary position until the man gets orgasm while the penis is fully insterted into the vagina."

10. Wow, the "IM floodgates" are open now....
Given that Maf54 (foley) has been actively stalking underage pages since he was first elected, I suspect there are many, many logged IMs that will find their way to the media.

Now there is evidence through the above IM that foley actually met with at least one of the pages, I suspect there will be other meetings with other pages as well.

Every pathetic excuse the repubs have used so far have been shot out of the water by this, imo.

13. GREAT Freeper Thread On This
They are cracking the hell out of me, trying to spin this stuff a la GOP!!

>>>Guys like this can't control themselves. If queers had any self control they would not let other men put their thingy up their backside much less then next put it in their mouth after that.>>>

Do people who use the term "thingy" really need to be so damn graphic?

=============================

I find his conduct disgusting but where is the "solicitation of sex"?

=============================
I agree....Too convenient...

Why is the kid responding to him. I'd have my kid off the web so quick, it would make his head spin.

My brother has been warning and warning his 16 year old son about going to porn sites "out of curiousity".
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I think having "congressional pages" is an exceedingly bad idea. Let them (congress critters) get their own damned coffee and make their own damned phone calls. They already have their DC staff and district staff and government agencies to do their bidding - dispense with the whole page program. Maybe it's throwing the "baby out with the bathwater" but something tells me that the whole idea is an antiquated one.

Obviously it would be better if the congresscritters could be trusted around teenagers but obviously they can't.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

from ABC.

Now, this is the network controlled by the Right Wing, according to Clinton.

I've been wondering about ABC also. They keep publishing news on this.

34. Already happening
I've heard it said twice today, once from Rush Limbaugh (the definitive source on morals of course) and once from some talking head (I don't recall who).

They both played this off as a smear by the Democratic Party going into the election, that the parents are probably in on it and were in with people that would make this help Democrats. In addition, it was suggested by some callers on CSPAN that the "boys could have said no". Odd, considering that no matter which way you cut it, it is still illegal and repugnant on any level.

There are lots of run-away boys in America living off the streets from the $ earned by prostituting themselves to pedophiles. I hope the FBI will do a thorough investigation of the street action Foley was likely to have been involved in. He didn't just talk about it.

55. Foley and Scientology: disgraced congressman linked to CoS?
There's this, from CNN.com:
"An attorney for Foley, a Florida Republican, confirmed Monday that the former congressman is in an alcoholism treatment center. The fax was apparently sent from Clearwater, Florida, but Roth would not say if that's where Foley is being treated."
So, apparently Foley has gone to a detox center in Clearwater, Fl. What's in Clearwater? Scientologists! So, I followed my intuition and did a little Googling, thinking perhaps Foley is drying out with the Sea Org there. This is what I uncovered:
"FLORIDA CONGRESSMAN ACCEPTS SCIENTOLOGY AWARD
On May 24, 2003, the "Clearwater Business Association" hosted a brunch in the Fort Harrison’s Ballroom, for Florida Congressman Mark Foley (R).
Also present at this event was "Republican State committee woman" Nancy Riley. Foley is featured on a Scientology web page promoting their anti-psychiatry front group C.C.H.R. ("Citizen's Comission on Human Rights"). The "Clearwater Business Association" (C.B.A.) appears to be primarily a way to bring politicians into the Scientology fold, by way of Scientologist Brett Miller (second from left in photo below). The primary affiliations of the C.BA.appear to be Scientology, W.I.S.E., and C.C.H.R., and not local businesses."
www.fso.org/en_US/news-events/pg005.html
web.tampabay.rr.com/sp/FLA.html (scroll down)

""...Mary Story from the Church of Scientology and Brett Miller from the Clearwater Businessman's Association present leatherbound copies of Dianetics and The Way to Happiness to Republican State Committee woman Nancy Riley and Congressman Mark Foley..."
WTF. Hold me, I'm scared.
