Perhaps the biggest question of all.....COULD there be people
of conscience on the dark side who are truly mortally fearful for their souls - who have in fact had enough? Could the timing of some of these recent stories - could Woodward, in fact - be finally waking up to the fact that this isn't la la land, these aren't video game deaths in Iraq and elsewhere, this isn't the GOP's personal country club - we have a number of deep throats here and there finally realising that this cannot go on?????

1. Nope.
Not a possibility at all.

7. The people who vote
their conscience, whether their ideas are right or left, will not change their views just because one of their leaders violates their principles. Did we do it when Bill & Monica were in the news. No. We didn't.

The difference between us is that we tend to have more loyalty to our own, while the Repukes will abandon them in a second.

On the other hand, those in the middle, the moderates, the independents, or, as I like to think of them, the sheeple, might. As they have no narrative to make the world make sense, they have to judge each event separately. I would say, "on its own merits", but that, I believe, is giving them too much credit. Rather, I think, they are more like straws that blow in the wind.

And who is the biggest blowhard on the political scene? Karl Rove, that's who. He may, or may not, have planned this. But if he didn't plan it, he is most certainly planning to take advantage of it and turn it against us, somehow. How, I don't know, but I suspect that we will be hearing about Barney Franks and other Democratic politicians going all the way back to Teddy Kennedy's little accident. I mean, they can drown us out in the MSM with old stuff and keep the current stuff off.

On the other hand, the web-literate can keep on top of the story, and make a lot of noise. So, we may be able to pick up some moderate votes. But, no, not the base.

8. Wanna talk loyalty?
I don't think we can accuse the 25-30% of harcore Republican support of disloyalty in every aspect of their lives. They might turn on us or on each other in a heartbeat, but when it comes to team jerseys, they'll never doff their elephants.

9. I'm not sure.
I don't think their base is Republilcan, so much, as they are conservative. They are distinct. Of course, practically it may be a distinction without a difference. What I am saying is that I think they value their ideas more than the R Party.

10. Probably.
But as long as the Rs seem to hate the same people as their base, the base is theirs. Let 'em falter, and try to appear kinder or gentler, then there's Trouble in River City.

2. No way...
they're just coverin' their butts in case there's a blue shift in the House & Senate...

I do believe that you're right on when you say that "we have a number of deep throats here..." and I think that if there is a blue shift in the House & Senate (Dem numbers improve) we will all be surprised at the amount of information that become available from these people...

:hi:

4. I will make a better than even bet that
bush was told by somebody about Foley.

No way in hell was a quiet "investigation" done about such an explosive subject that Hastert and Boner wouldn't have given the heads up to bush.

This will start slow and as testimony starts under oath, the dike will burst.

And I'll give you the key component to my logic....how quick Foley resigned.

6. I think it's possible
that there are people who will realize that they've been sold a bill of goods. People who do genuinely fear for their souls, who do translate their actions into heavenly currency, they may be quiet right now, but, they may start whispering to each other and it may get loud, I'm hoping it does.
