RIP United States
Last week the United States passed after a long illness. The once grand country that once was a symbol for all victims of abuse and political persecution quietly died in her sleep.

Flowers and other appropriate symbols of mourning should be sent to the Smithsonian, where a copy of the once followed Bill of Rights will be kept, out of mind and out of sight. The other alternate place will be the Hall of US History, where a copy of the Constitution will be buried, never to be seen again.

The country has now crossed the Rubicon, and it is no longer that symbol, but instead a hated symbol of torture, persecution and hate. May god, if one does indeed exist, have mercy upon us all for not putting a better fight... for the curtain has come down,, and the only thing awaiting us is a very long night. .

12. "You had everything and threw it all away in an instant"
This is a line from the BEST thing I have ever read about the nightmare we are currently in, a fiction book of stories called "Twilight of the Superheroes" by Deborah Eisenberg. It's in that title story which is about 9/11. I would recommend it to anyone.

I keep it beside my bed. It comforts me to read the truth.

2. I so agree with this statement
"May god, if one does indeed exist, have mercy upon us all for not putting a better fight... for the curtain has come down,, and the only thing awaiting us is a very long night." .

The Democrats are just as much to blame as they could do so much more. If 70% of Americans think BushCo along with the rest of the Repubs are heading in the wrong direction, why not take the country back? We have the power if we will only exercise our rights.

10. We are at that moment
but you know what? People are too comfy... suffice it to say, in 1776 only about 30% wanted to rise up, another 30% were loyalists, another 30-40% could not care less... sound familiar?

4. No! Don't Give Up!
We can take this back. There have been other horrible periods in American history -- the Civil War, lynchings and Klan dominance in the South in the 1920's; the Vietnam era.

Having lived through the Vietnam era, I can tell you the pendulum always swings back.

On the other hand, there's always British Columbia. :-)

7. Nobody said I gave up
but the country IS dead... we are just living in the corpse waiting to see what replaces it.

Yep Nam was bad... but you know what? This is far closer to the Civil War than Nam... insofar as how divided this country is.

So... I will still do what I can... but reality is... the last step in taking us into the Fascist States of America, LEGALLY was taken last week... we are now officially a fascist, CHRISTIAN state, even if the American taliban will not officially say it... it is a matter of actions speak louder than words.

Oh and British Columbia is NOT far enough, just as France was not far enough either.

13. To whom you refer when you say "we"?
Last time I checked, both sides had their snouts buried in the trough and they only fight over who gets how much. Vultures all.

17. Me too, and I've just been so depressed lately because of this shit.
Only three or four days later, and all we are talking about is this foley crap, as if it makes any difference at all. :grr:

Well, I just hope that there are enough of us, and that we are making preparations, because when it hits it will turn to shit much faster than most want to believe, if they consider it at all.

Remember. "... Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!"
