Freeps: Foley Messages Part of Calculated Campaign? LMAO!11!!!!!11

Drip, Drip, Drip of Foley Messages Part of Calculated Campaign?

Day One: Suspicious-but-not-explict emails.

Day Two: Explicit instant messages, but no evidence Foley met with boys.

Day Four: Instant message indicating Foley was indeed seeking to meet and possibly had already met with a boy.

Foley deserves what he's gotten and what is likely to come. But it seems increasingly plausible that the timed release of information - of ever-increasing seriousness - is part of a calculated campaign to keep the story in the news and inflict the maximum amount of political damage on the GOP.
...
When Ross' source provided him the first email, isn't it likely that he already had the more graphic instant messages in his possession? But dumping everything on day one would have reduced the number of news cycles of front page coverage.

This story has obviously destroyed Foley's professional career. It might inflict wider damage on the GOP. But if it turns out that political partisans were behind a carefully-timed disclosure campaign, it's not hard to imagine a serious backlash on the Democrats.

13. Maybe Foley was a deep cover mole
Actually a commie pinko pretending to be a conservative who waited 12 years to acheive maximum carnage.

But I prefer this take:

3. That phenomenon is how scandals ALWAYS unfurl...
It has nothing to do with "timed release of information." It's that reporters first go with the most provable accusations, and wait on confirmation of bigger ones. Also, once one accuser comes out and makes the news, others suddenly get the nerve to do it too. Hence, more info.

It happens over and over again! Abu Ghraib was like this too.

Actually, the FReeper is wrong. The instant messages were sent to the reporter after the email story broke, in response to it.

What's so outlandish about this conspiracy theory as compared with some advanced here in DU? No, it wasn't a Democratic conspiracy, Foley got caught with his pants down, so to speak, but I am just asking a question. I mean, let's face it, there are some extremely paranoid people around here.
On edit- Flame away. I'm sure that some will be pissed off but that's ok. This is supposed to be a free and open discussion of ideas here. And like I said, I'm just asking.

10. One quotes "dim bulb" Hannity...
..."Sean Hannity just said on his radio show...that when a DEM representative was found to have done WORSE, by actually having sex with a male page...the Dems in the House gave him 3 standing ovations when he refused to resign from the House... "

Too friggin' pathetically funny!!

Did Hannity make that critical distinction, or did he fuzz it?

God, they're so stupid. If you report a story, and someone knows a lot more about it, they generally contact you. Happens all the time. Scandals always seem to widen.

Too bad, freepers. You got a gripe, go complain to the FREE PRESS (long may they live). ABC is simply exercising its editorial discretion. They are a for-profit corporation and stretching the story out helps profits.

25. Well first of all...
...no one yet has denied the truth of the emails and IMs, so how it got out there is immaterial.

But as to the thesis that the Democrats planned the sequence of events as to how this information was released: all I can say is, if only I believed they were capable of it. But IMO, there is less than a snowball's chance in hell that this is the case. We see how inept this crew is, we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on an almost daily basis.

Anyway, pretty funny, no matter how you slice it.
