Poll question: Like many other DUers I have been boycotting ABC news and
abcnews.com along with everything else Disney. It appears that ABC new is doing a good job on the Foley thing. I am therefore asking: Should the everything Disney boycott be lifted as to ABC's news department only?

22. Me neither.
ABC and Disney are dead to me. I'll be happy to read what others find when they watch ABC or read what others post here when they click a link to their site, but I won't watch or click myself.

2. Only if they go a lot further - maybe a REAL Doc. on 9/11.
I never did believe that a boycott against such a huge conglomerate would work. It's also impossible to measure the effect that we were having.

3. I continue to boycott. It is hard. I snuck a peak at woodward on 60
minutes, but I really don't like to support the repubs.

5. Uh, 60 Minutes is a CBS program, not ABC.
Just thought you might want to know...

8. well good then. Then I haven't watched abc since path to 9-11.
you've got to admit, path to 9-11 was some hard core propaganda. worse than the average omissions of the past 6 years.... I don't think it's ok to let that go.

15. I didn't watch it, so all I have to go on is what I've read online.
In general, I thoroughly dislike "docudramas" anyway. I'd rather get my history from objective facts -- not "dramatizations".

10. I can't ban ABC
Edited on Mon Oct-02-06 05:10 PM by Blue_Roses
'cause then I would be banning "Desperate Housewives" and "Boston Legal"--which by the way, does have very progressive issues.

11. haven't watched them in years, don't intend to start now. ONE news
story that they are covering sort of competently does NOT make up for the years of biased coverage, from the clinton years to now.

13. "Other". Here's my explanation:
The extent of my "boycott" is that I don't go to the ABC News website because my "hit" can be tabulated. Other than that, there's no way anyone will know whether I watch a show on ABC or not. I don't have cable or satellite. I don't have TIVO, or any other kind of device that might have the capability of recording/transmitting data about which channel I am watching. I don't have a Nielsen box tabulating my program choices.

All I've got is a big ol' antenna on the roof of my house out in the boonies. Whether I watch a program on ABC or not, there's absolutely no way anyone besides me is going to know. My boycotting ABC would be a completely pointless gesture -- my viewing habits are essentially invisible.

I've never been to Disneyland/Disney World, and never will. The last time I bought a Disney product was some time back in the mid-80s when I bought a VHS tape of some Disney kid's movie for my youngest child.

I'm still going to watch "Boston Legal" if I feel like it. There's simply no point in restricting what little television I watch when there's absolutely no way anyone will ever know what network I'm watching.

Being called "reasonable" on DU may be a first for me! I'm usually condemned as "far left fringe". (I've got a loooong history here) :D

Thanks again,

I want to rip it down, and then I want to blow up the tree stump, and then I'm going to rent a backhoe and rip open the earth to destroy the roots.
