Has Dean called for a quick withdrawal from Iraq?
Edited on Tue Jan-24-06 05:31 PM by Radical Activist
During the Presidential primary Dean said we would have to stay in Iraq for 3-5 years or more. Now there are a few more Democrats calling for a timetable to withdrawal more quickly. Has the man who claimed to be the only anti-war candidate changed his mind yet? I thought I might have missed it. Links would be appreciated.

1. Last I heard he supported a 2yr withdrawal plan.

Prior to that he spoke supportively and positively about both Kerry and Murtha's plans when asked about it in interviews.

2. Well, as Chairman, he's sort of a cheerleader for existing policy
Not his fault, that's the job description. If you want a change in policy, look to the policy-makers in the party.

3. After the fuck-up he caused in San Antonio last month....
...Dean is probably going to avoid the subject of Iraq whenever he can.

Saying the "idea that we're going to win the war in Iraq is an idea which is just plain wrong," Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean predicted today that the Democratic Party will come together on a proposal to withdraw National Guard and Reserve troops immediately, and all US forces within two years.

10. oh yeah
I vaguely remember that now. Dean's gaffes don't get the same attention they used to get. I don't know...if you want to end a war quickly you have to at least pretend you won. That's the only way most of the public will accept it.

11. Dean did a good job of damage control....
but needless to say, we didn't need the damage in the first place.

5. Advocates drawing out guards and reservists now...
Redeploying troops to other areas, getting the troop out of Iraq and the target off their back. Two year plan. Look up Lawrence Korb, it is his plan.

He has always said it would be hard to get out if we went in

8. True....hard to get out if we went in
When you have all the divisions, brigades, troops and equipment, plus the fact that moving all that stuff around is outsourced with contracts like everything else, six months for a brigade or division to totally pack up and leave would be considered "speedy".

18. The last thing I heard him say was the tired old suggestion
that we started the mess so now we should stay and clean it up. I hope that his position has changed as I was very disappointed with him on point.

If you care. So many disappointed with so many today. Kind of overboard.

exit Iraq immediately.
