My response to Mr Wayne Timm letter,09/30/06.

It is not often that I write the editor of the local newspaper but this is an opportunity I cannot pass up.

Mr Timm's expressed his concern that if Senator Burns is not re-elected that lunatics may be put in charge. Mr.Timm's expressed his concerns that gun rights may be in jeopardy if democrats are put in charge of either or both houses in Washington D.C.. I must clarify something,Democrats own guns and use guns for the same purpose as well,in fact Senator Kerry(Ma) was seen during the 2004 campaign hunting with a gun so this argument that Dem's are out to rid America of it's guns doesn't hold water.

Let's get on to the loss of freedoms that is presently happening and most are not even aware. the Torture bill(s.3930) that was passed on 09/29/06 seems as though it was written for those who harmed us on 9/11 and those who could harm us in the future. Sadly this bill yet to be signed by president Bush is also an open ticket to detain citizens of the U.S.A who to may make critical statements against the U.S.A. as well as the Bush administration policy's.

Realistically a gun is just an object the real power comes from the one who holds it. If you take away the voice of that person then you take away a God given gift...a free spirit and a free mind also something guaranteed by our constitution, Freedom of Speech.

1. Love it! You make excellent points...a couple of minor corrections:

I'm not sure how to punctuate this one sentence, but I'd start with a comma after "person": "If you take away the voice of that person, then you take away a God given gift..." I'm not easily getting your meaning on te remainder of te sentence. Perhaps it is the punctuation.

Also, the plural of "policy" is "policies".
