Are you guys aware that Hastert is up for reelection?
The Dem who is running for his House seat was on Hardball (John Laesch).

Laesch is now surging in the polls.

1. .
Yes, Laesch seems to be a good Dem: http://www.john06.com/
I believe that he has almost no financial support though.

26. More info on John
John’s younger brother, Sgt. Pete Laesch, currently stationed in Iraq, asked John to run against the gargantuan rubber stamp who represents their district in Congress. John is keeping his promise to his brother that he made in 2003.

John is 32 years old and grew up in West Africa where his missionary parents were stationed. They moved to a farm in Newark, Illinois when John was 12. He enlisted in the Navy when he was 21 and served as an intelligence analyst in Bahrain, monitoring terrorist activity and analyzing foreign political and military structures, winning numerous citations and meritoriously rising 5 ranks within 3 years. John knows what Richard Clarke and President Clinton did to thwart terrorism. John suffered a non-combative injury to his knee that sent him back to the states. John has since left the military and is currently a union carpenter.

side note: In the spirit of Wes Clark, John is not a politician. He is a true patriot devoted to serving his country and preserving the America we know and miss.
He is a real cutie pie and he fell in love with his campaign manager and they are now engaged! AWWWW!

15. I would like to know the criteria the DCCC
uses to contribute to a candidate's campaign. Do they just pick and choose by some sort of DCCC panel.. Example here in Indiana we have 3 hot races with the Democrats leading in the polls..but there are two other districts where the Democratic candidates are holding their own. Now I dont understand why the DCCC has only contributed to one of those races. Maybe these races dont fit the high profile districts that gets mentioned on the news..

6. Of course
He is a Representative. It's an election year. Ergo he is up for reelection. All Reps are elected every two years.

10. I just sent him $25 (Laesch)
Figured that would be a good place to kick in, just in case Denny is too honorable to resign.

I really wanted that new game......but i'd rather see Denny go down. As much as i'd like to see him resign, i feel it would be more embarrassing to be thrown out by his own constituents.

Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 07:55 PM by William Bloode
I read his issues stance on his web page. He appears to have a good platform, and would be a much better choice than grease ball Denny. Money well spent i think.

Cheers to the removal of Denny, one way or another! :toast:

14. Up until Saturday, Hastert was considered "safe" therefore
the money goes to those crucial races where it will make a difference. Since we only need 15 seat, you don't put money into a race you have little or no chance of winning while another race that could have been #15 is lost. However, when and if Hastert resigns (which I don't see happening), the money would pour in. Right now, with a month to go, Hastert only has to hold on to see if he wins then he doesn't have to worry about much for 2 more years. That is, unless he's indicted, etc. but he has to figure he'll deal with that and make a decision then.

For now, I absolutely LOVE to watch entrenched GOP incumbents whine and cry like little babies because they did something stupid, got caught and are about to lose their election.

24. Not very likely
That district was drawn for the express purpose, if say something happens like covering up for a pedophile member of Congress, he'd still get reelected.
