POPPY Bush on Larry King Tonight CNN!!! -- Oh boy,
Edited on Thu Oct-05-06 07:52 AM by cboy4
I just saw a clip, and Poppy looks as tired and old as I've ever seen him.

Larry King is interrogating Poppy over the Bob Woodward book, and poppy appears to be having a stroke at one point.

It looks to be some delicious television watching, so fire up the DVR's, TIVO's, VCR's, et al.

partial transcript - -

LARRY KING, CNN ANCHOR: How about when you're -- like in the Woodward book, they quote you as not liking Condoleezza Rice, or you didn't think she was up to par.

GEORGE H.W. BUSH, FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: Well, if that's a quote, it's a lie. I can't make it any more clearer than that. I like Condoleezza Rice. She worked for me. I have great respect for Condoleezza. But I can't believe Woodward -- I haven't read the book -- that he actually said I said that.

KING: I think someone says you said it. I don't have it in front of me now. But it's quoted as saying you didn't think she was equal to the task.

BUSH: Well, that's crazy. I talked to her yesterday, I guess there were some hurt feelings, the day before she went to this trip.

KING: She was hurt?

BUSH: Well -- she called me and said don't -- there's something in this book.

KING: That's what it is.

BUSH: But she didn't say what it was, that I didn't like her. She said there's remarks in there attributed to you. I don't believe it. And I said, well, I don't know what they are.

KING: The passage from the book is "even the president's father had confided that he was unhappy with Rice. 'Condi is a disappointment, isn't she?... She's not up to the job.'"

KING: Brent Scowcroft is quoted in the Woodward book, in "State of Denial" as describing you -- this is now Brent describing you as "anguished" and "tormented" by the Iraq war and its aftermath.

BUSH: Is that a question? Or...

KING: Yes.

BUSH: And what's the question?

KING: Were you anguished and tormented?

BUSH: No, not anguished and tormented.

KING: So the quote by Brent is either Brent's wrong...

BUSH: Well, it's the quote by Brent, because I've heard, before I came down here where it talks about, you know, talks about that David Thoran (ph) said to somebody, you know, it's all kind of secondhand. I don't think Woodward is quoting. I don't know. I haven't read the book.

KING: But you haven't talked to Brent about it?

BUSH: No.

Lie, Lie, Lie Poppy!

2. I saw a clip of Bush 41 last night, too. Who was the woman who
was sitting beside him on the set never saying a word, moving, etc? It was weird with King and Bush 41 (two dead guys talking) yammering on and on and this person just sitting there. I couldn't help but wonder if she was there to wipe 41's chin when he drooled, help keep him propped up in his chair, poke him if he nods off, weird.

King had to keep repeating the questions, re-wording them and 41 rambling on before finally giving a two word answer. And this was in a short clip. You know Chucklenuts is in deep doo doo when they have to drag out 41 to bolster him up.

4. It's his daughter Doro Bush Koch....she wrote a book
(“My Father, My President”) -- so she goes on the show and has to sit quietly and listen to the host talk about another author's book! :spray:

3. hey, this would be the perfect moment to bring this up:

after all, it was squelched quickly and did not get the public airing it deserved, just like Iran/Contra. The public needs to be reminded that pedophily, lying, and cover-ups have a long, proud tradition within the Reprehenslican party. Perhaps that Central America death-squad sponsor would like to comment on his predilection for little boys.

8. Larry King will do nothing to jeopardize his "friendship" with the Bushes
He even jettisoned another "friend," Kitty Kelley, in favor of the Bushes. Prior to her book on the Bush family, Larry couldn't get enough of the gossip on the Royal Family, Sinatra, and other celebrities Kelley wrote about. Her book would normally have been a huge best-seller, but the media outlets were cowed by the family and she found herself blackballed.

7. Gotta love Poppy...
he can lie with the best of them. I wouldn't be surprised if he was Woodward's main source for the book.

10. Saw a teaser...said he won't read Woodwards book if critical of jr.
Well, now there's an open mind. Family trumps National Security every time.

More reason for no nepotism in politics ( yea, right. )
