Why the hell are they carrying this dumb speech ?
The cable networks are back inb campaign mode I guess. Every inane appearance and proclamation by Mr. Bush is carried in full. meanwhile, the Democrats call press conferences and are totally ignored.

I'm not a tin-hatter, but this is really a case of blatant media bias.

2. The media has been pushing their proBush bias since the 2000 campaign.
It only worsened after 9-11 - they threw away all pretense of being balanced that day. Dems have been stuggling to get an open microphone ever since.

7. I agree -- but they seemed to be toning it down for a while
I remember the bad old days when Bush, Rumsfeld, etc. were constantly on TV for any speech or press conference of photo op.

But in the last couple of years, they stopped doing that, or at least reduced it to the minimum.

But now they're back at it. They ought to be paying Bush, since he's on the air as much as their anchors.

to the business of protecting BushInc.

3. Where does a tinfoil hat enter into media bias?
It doesn't take a conspiracy theory to explain the biases of the corporate media. They all report in the way that is most helpful to themselves. They all just happen to have an interest in protecting the Republican Party.

9. It's a long complex subject
Edited on Thu Oct-05-06 11:34 AM by Armstead
I'm a media-guy journalist myself (mostly on the local level, with some Big Media experience) and have a lot of thoughts about how bias works in the media and how it relates to their operations and overall role and business goals.

My reference to tin hattism was admittedly a throw-away line, regarding simplistic explanations. The difference between blatant manipulation versus inherent operational biases and actual objective journalism is not a clear one because there are a lot of factors that come into it.

But getting into all that would have been a very long-winded post. I was mainly just venting about this particular piece of blatantly unfair coverage.

and more average people that, "Our President is an IDIOT!"

At this point, everyone knows the media is biased, especially FOX.

The media is inadvertently doing our work by showing this morAn live.

The M$M is going to have a rude awakening come November 7th.

No, Howie Kurtz, we don't hang off of every word. :puke:
