1. They were already going down, so to speak
This just took a bunch of hail mary passes out of play. If the Repukes keep fighting this, they might lose 40 seats. If they don't,, they'll only lose 25. Which is how fucked up this country is. But the war is the real cause, this is just the last straw for a lot of people who were going to reluctantly vote Fascist.

2. I'll take it.
The straw that broke the camel's back is all that matters.

3. It is weird, and disheartening. But if it gets rid of the Republicans,
there may be some hope of getting out of Iraq. So in the long run maybe it's OK. It would be nice, though, if Americans paid more attention to the big issues and less attention to the sensational stuff....

4. I think all of it will come crashing down on them...
This charade can't go on forever. Iraq, corruption, deficits, economy, Katrina - perhaps Foley was just the mosquito that landed on top of all of it and caused it to collapse. Seems like the levee is about to break.

6. It has to start somewhere. Remember, Watergate started as
a "third-rate burglary", and looked what happened once that train started rolling down hill.

7. More stuff will get pulled into this if it starts to snowball.
We will have a better idea by next week, unless Hastert resigns. Rove may think that is a better way out if things begin to spin out of his control.

8. Yes, it is. But the two coupled together should seal the coffin this time.

9. Iraq is on voter's minds--but Democrats aren't completely clean on that
The Foley-Hastert sexcapade and coverup is an ALL-REPUBLICAN affair, which goes onto the big heap of corruption scandals--Duke Cunningham, Abramoff and Ney--that show how corrosive and rotten Republican dominance of Congress has been.

10. Matters sex bring down more governments and
politicians than you'd believe. Politicians can get away with almost everything else. Ask the Brits about Christine Keeler.

That can't happen in France now -they're way more tolerant of sexual dalliances and in the Caribbean the politican might receive a promotion.:D

11. I don't think it will be perversion or Iraq that will bring them down. It
will be their arrogance, dishonesty, greed and contempt for those that put them in office.

The way they are handling the Foley just highlights their true ineptitude and the fact that they put politics and power over and above everything else...including their constituents.

Their desperate attempt to turn this back onto the Democrats, when they turned a blind eye to the actions of their own, and supported him, reminds people of everything that has happened in the past year. The Republicans unwavering support for Delay, Ney, Rumsfeld, Chaney, Rice, and the entire Bush cadre, even in the face of obvious lies, ineptitude and scandal will be their downfall.
