My friends, I need to rant about bush and crew. This is long.....
I was a Reagan democrat. I liked the man, still do. Bash him all you want, but compared to bush that man could speak. bush just bumbles through a poorly written script because he himself does not believe that which he says.

So then, here is my speech to our 'leaders'.

Begin-------

Mr. Bush, I have watched you and your friends in the office of the president for some years now. From the hallowed halls of our congress to the sacred whitehouse which so many have died to defend. I have sat here day after day reading about you and hearing you. And the actions by you have prompted this speech from me.

I will tell you sir that the first vote I ever cast was for a man you will never, ever, equal. Ronald Reagan. And I say this as a hard core democrat today.

I am, at this moment in our nation's history, for once ashamed of the leadership of this country. And that is not something I say lightly. You and your father will never equal the greatness of either Clinton or Reagan. And while my fellow dems will chide me on this revelation, I won't flinch on the truth. I voted for whom I thought was the best man for the job. And I can say without any reservation sir neither you, nor your father, were ever the best men for the job.

You both led us into wars. You both lied. You both undermined the very fabric which has made us the great country we once were. And I for one am damn sick of it.

What you have done sir is built up a wall around this government, a wall of secrecy, of lies, a stonewall if you will, a wall of shame, and of death. Since you have come to office, and your cronies, this land has suffered great loss of life - both at home and abroad. And for what Mr. President?

You have expanded your powers. You have focused on you and your friends. You have enriched the rich and decimated the poor through your programs. You have fought hard for the few while using the many to make the lives of those few better. You have cared more about foreign countries then US States. And it shows in the money you have spent.

This sir is my land. The land of those in my family who have fought and died for it in wars that republicans have deemed necessary. From Vietnam to Iraq, my relatives have fought and died for leaders who don't even know their names. And for what?

Terrorists surely exist and wish us harm. Clinton knew that. We all have seen it and known it. From home grown to foreign. And while you claim you have chased them all over the globe, you have done so while holding the hands of those who finance them. You sir are a sham, a con artist who uses our fears to peddle us wares we don't want or need.

You have built this wall around our country, one of shame and fear. You have built a wall between us and our fellow humans by claiming everyone is a suspect. You have built a wall of seperation of people and government, with your no-fly lists and terror laws that treat us all as criminals.

You, Mr. Bush, have created more fear at home with your actions then any terrorist could have ever done. You have made us all out to be the enemy. You take out shampoo at airports, you want us screened and tagged. You have made us to see ourselves as the enemy and injected fear into the hearts of Millions.

And while many have bought what you are selling, many more are now breaking free from the darkness your spread and are seeing the light. This one little corner of the web has awoken many people, and has spread the truth about you and your kind.

I have never spent so much of my free time before battling something. I never needed to really. Until you came along. With your lies and deception. With your bumbling speeches and propoganda. In all my 40 years of life I have never seen someone in power as so dangerous as you and your cronies.

I have spent hours here on this website reading and learning, time I could have better spent with my family. But I cannot simply ignore you and hope you go away after this term. I cannot simply ignore the harm you are doing to this world and this country. I cannot simply go to sleep at night anymore without checking in to the internet to see what new hell you are promoting, what new schemes you have made to circumnavigate the laws you make for me and mine.

I want my life back. My dreams. My hopes for my kids and their future. I cannot, and will not, have that with you and yours in power.

You have let this country down. You have let a great and mighty people down. You have not led us, you have instead lied to us and treated US like the enemy, as though WE stood in your way.

You are not of the people and by the people. You are of yourself and for your friends. You are a sham.

There are democrats who piss me off, yes indeed. And I will judge them as harsh as I do you. No doubt about it, I care about this country and not the letter after someone's name. But I can damn well assure you that no one in this land with a D after their name is near as terrible as you have been. Not even close. My grandfather was a republican mayor, and a damn fine man. Were he alive now he would probably spit in your general direction.

You are a shame on us all. Your party is a shame to us all. Please, just get the hell out now and let us live our lives in peace and harmony. Let us have our kids home from foreign lands. Let us smoke some marijuana without fear of being imprisoned while your rich buddies get away with murder. Let us be the people we can and want to be.

But you won't. And in the end you have decimated this land, this world, with your ambitions. And all the while you have smiled and told us how much better our lives are under you and your government. While tearing away our freedoms you have grinned. While at the same time you have made sure the rules that apply to us don't to you and your friends.

Well - go fuck yourself. Because you have awoken a sleeping giant. You have propelled the complacent into activity - and it is activity opposed to you.

You had a chance at greatness, and you blew it. You had a chance to make the entire world a better place, and you fucked it all up. In our name.

Fuck you bush. You are the worst president in the history of this country, and yet you keep deluding yourself that you are the best.

What the fuck is the world coming to?

1. Who gives a fuck if a war criminal gives good speech?
Reagan was a fucking monster.

Naturally, I agree with you about the current war criminal.

2. Re:Rant
Well said. Never mind the bash for Reagan... this is about our current predicament. If more people would read and compose statements like yours and let the anger surface there might be some hope before Bush(Satan) embroils us in WW III. I fear for all of us in the upcoming weeks!

4. Egad! Reagan was a disaster of a president!
and a liar, too. Let's see.....Iran-Contra, the Iranian hostage crisis secret fix, the death squads in Central America, union busting, defunding state mental facilities, thousands of new homeless people, ignoring AIDS, 'welfare queens'...

I agree with you that Bush will never be a great president. But neither was Reagan. When he passed away, wow, you should've heard all the callers on the radio saying he should burn in hell.

"Facts are stupid things."
— Ronnie Reagan, 1988
(misquote of John Adams: 'Facts are stubborn things')

5. In hindsight, sure reagan was problematic
but living through those times he actually seemed better then most and inspired many folks I have known over the years.

I wonder if most his problems were not directly related to his vp....

7. Better than most? No, not at all. He was obviously senile for much of his>
presidency. It was like a giant pink elephant in the room. Everyone pretended he was fine, while the man muttered & drooled on himself, slept through important meetings and was very obviously NOT fine. :wtf:

10. Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play??????????
I'm sorry, 'problematic' is the understatement of the century. If Reagan 'SEEMED better than most,' it's because you drank the koolaid. Remember, he was an ACTOR in a previous life, but he never stopped putting on a show.

And yes, GHWB was corrupt and has his share of clandestine demons, but Reagan's devils are Reagan's devils.

The one positive I'll give him is, he did say he accepted responsibility for Iran-Contra. I think that was the last time a Republican accepted responsibility for anything. I bet his handlers told him don't you EVER do that again!

9. Don't forget Reagan was the biggest tax increaser in history
Sure, he lowered the top marginal income tax rate on the wealthiest from 70 percent to 28 percent. But, to make up those lost revenues, he had Alan Greenspan chair a "Social Security Reform" commission that recommended and got twenty-some percent PAYROLL tax increases on the vast majority who work for a living.

Twenty-some years later, after all those trillions of extra FICA dollars have been spent on further "tax cuts" for the wealthy, two invasions of the same oil-rich country, and a huge "Homeland Security" boondoggle, the vast majority of the tens of millions of sheeple who voted for Reagan STILL think of him as a great "tax-cutter". What a scam-artist!
