he's clever and experienced enough in world affairs to know that his son has f*cked up in historic, unprecedented proportion.... that his son will live on as a stain in the history books. In an interview, Woodward said that Poppy is "secretly in agony" over the Iraq invasion. But, publicly he must show unconditional, absolute loyalty and support to his son and his policies. No one, not Meryl Streep nor Lawrence Olivier, is/was that good an actor. No one. I think, if King asked the right, probing questions with minimal follow-up, it would have been interesting to watch-- the nuanced expression on Poppy's face, as he tried to endorse the pre-emptive invasion of Iraq, something we can surmise he was dead-set against. Furthermore, it's on record that 43 did not consult 41 on his decision nor solicit any advice.
Hopefully someone here saw the show.
