I think by focusing on the Sex scandal, Dems are helping GOP
in the long run, the continuing fascination with sex news just
perpetuates the media's downward spiral into the avoidance
of real news by focusing on the salacious.

The real news is Condi Rice, Rumsfeld and Ashcroft lying to the
911 commision, which has been totally lost.

1. It's not about the sex
It's about the predatory nature of this sex, and the failure of House leadership to effectively deal with this predation.

It's about a house leadership that is unwilling to question one of their own. If nothing the kind of oversight Hastert and co. provided over this page scandal is a perfect metephor for the kind of oversight they've provided for the Bush Administration.

10. I think there's an element of that
But I think the larger issue is that the House leadership walked away from their oversight responsibilities - just like they have done in Iraq, the War on Terror and a number of other places.

I guess it depends on how much you think they knew before this broke. My personal take is that they had enough to start an investigation, but they didn't really want to know.

4. Dems don't control any news outlets - It isn't the Dems driving this
The MSM outlets are owned by war profiteers -- they will NEVER cover the things you have listed in any way other than to catapult the propaganda.

this scandal.

The MSM is trumpeting this all over, and there is a strong likelihood that more repubs will go down. So, it's not all bad.

However, I agree, it's time to focus on this latest information about the lies the cabal told regarding pre-9/11 and then to the 9/11 commission. Will the MSM provide the focus? Probably not.

I am hoping this scandal runs its course. The Woodward book isn't going anywhere. MKJ

7. If the media weren't focusing on the sex scandal, what do you think they'd
be focusing on? Things like:

Did bush lie? Is Iraq a deadly quagmire?

Or, things like:

Are the dems really weak-kneed? Do the dems endanger national security?

I think the latter. I hope the sex scandal keeps on going.

8. That might be true if the voters were
interested in issues (which apparently is not the case).

12. Sex scandal? Thats kind of minimizing things isn't it?
This guy was a pedophile that the Republicans were protecting.

That hits home with most parents I know.
