Bush: "an attractive man, a family man, an honest man."

http://www.azstarnet.com/metro/149685

<snip>

He also singled out Republican Len Munsil, who is running against Napolitano for governor. Mistakenly calling him "Lee" Munsil, Bush said Munsil impressed him as "an attractive man, a family man, an honest man."

30. The Kennedys as a family have a high adult mortality rate
which offsets to a degree the decision to have large number of children.

All eleven of Bobby's kids survived to adulthood. Two of them have died, one of a drug overdose and one from a skiing accident.

Factor in the deaths of their aunts and uncles
Edited on Fri Oct-06-06 11:26 AM by wuushew
If a child would lived during at the same time period as Joe Jr.,John or Bobby then they can effectively be removed from the population excess equation.

Don't forget the death of JFK's sister and husband as well in that plane accident nor overlook the effect of institutionalizing the childless Rosemary Kennedy.

I am just saying that from an environmental standpoint large families don't necessarily increase the aggregate population in all cases. I am not bashing the Kennedy's or Irish-Catholics.

39. I'm not bashing them either
My original (sarcastic) post was meant to point out the hypocrisy of someone labelling a person crazy based on the number of children they choose to have. I happen to be from a small family. But I would never judge someone based on the number of children they choose to have, absent some evidence that they were incapable of providing for those children.

40. Interesting how you assumed the "psychoses" related to environmental
concerns.

Though many would consider having a large family nowadays as being irresponsible, it hardly qualifies as "psychotic".

48. You're joking, right?
I mean, the Robert Kennedy's lost two children. One to heroin in his late 20's, and the other in a ski accident when he was in his 40's.

Ethel and Bobby Kennedy were always applauded for their 11 children.

50. Oh, please
maybe he's just kind of shallow and thinks of physical attributes first or maybe he couldn't think of anything else? It IS rather faint praise. How we can call the man a homosexual hypocrite based on one sentence is beyond me.

And I don't understand what the thing is lately on DU about outting gay people. I think there is more homophobia here than freeperville. We just are much more nuanced in hiding it.

75. Latent homosexuals should not be blatant hypocrites
I am not the first to have raised such an accusation against Bush on DU. Rumors about Bush’s sexual orientation have been floating around the internet for years. Bush branded other guys on the ass during his frat days! He had a longterm relationship with Victor Ashe a gay man. Others including a candidate for governor of Nevada have come forward to say they witnessed Bush's bisexual hijinks. He has always been a little too attracted to men with bald heads, rubbing them like they were phallic symbols. And he displays plenty of latent tendencies as do many of the rightwingers who are most homophobic tend to do.

I personally have no problem with a person being gay, but I do think those who attack gays should not be secretly in the closet as so many of the GOP men seem to be.

Outwardly heterosexual men who display latent tendencies while condemning others’ choices deserve to be condemned for their hypocrisy.

Aint nothing strange about noticing the behavior. Randi Rhodes has done shows about this subject. People have written about it quite often on DU.

Google is your friend. Try these search terms: Bush + bisexuality, Bush + Victor Ashe, Skull and Bones, Jeff Gannon, Franklin cover-up, Bush + bald men's heads...it is not my fault Bush's behavior fits a pattern that apparently some other GOPers (notably Foley) also exhibit.

There is nothing homophobic about mentioning these connections. Andy Stephenson first raised these issues on DU. He was gay but not willing to hide other gay men's more sordid activities.

I am a heterosexual, but that doesn't stop me from condemning hetero perverts. I am not being heterophobic for commenting on their behavior.

Good grief. I can't post anything on DU lately without someone telling me I can't say that, that I'm bad for thinking it, a freeper, a troll, and now a homophobe. Wow. Used to be a day, people actually did some research before simply shooting off their mouths around here.

hit kids in school here? I haven't heard of it in a while, but there is still a space on our referrals for "corporal punishment administered" and a place for a witness signature. I was once told, 30 years ago, to hit a child. Couldn't do it. Where I grew up in NJ, that hadn't been in vogue for a century. I had never even heard of it.

It was appalling.

that when Bush is talking someone up he almost never mentions their actual qualifications (or lack thereof) for the job in question. The person in question is always "a good man/woman", "a good family man" and on and on. Rarely a word about what in their professional background, experience, and accomplishments would make them a good fit for the position (no joke intended)

54. "The election for Beadle" by Charles Dickens (Boz)
In the 1840's Dickens satirized the use of family size as a mark of a good leader. It should be required reading today. In his story, the winner turned out to be not the candidate with the most children , (8 I believe), but the candidate with 4 (?) because the latter was younger and stated that he should be able to have more than 8 easily given his youth, compared to the old man with 8.

Didn't make sense then, but continues to used today, with sappy variations. In Oklahoma, right wing gubernatorial candidate Ernest "0ldies radio DJ" Istook, is using air time for his wife to say "Ernest is the nicest man I know." Wow. And of course the beautiful stepford children are pushed to the front.

68. Ah, Now's a great time to repost this: Bush Hits on Canadian "Scott"
Orig in the Toronto Globe & Mail.

Bush prefers Martin spokesman to his own

by Jane Taber, Globe and Mail

Ottawa — This is the tale of the two Scotts — one American, the other Canadian. One is dark-haired, the other blond. Both are 35 and both work for the most powerful men in their respective countries.

Scott McClellan is the press secretary to U.S. President George W. Bush; Scott Reid is the senior strategist to Prime Minister Paul Martin.

But, according to Mr. Bush, Mr. Martin has the prettier Scott.

“Well, what do you do for this guy?” the President asked as he pointed to the Prime Minister.

“Well, you know, sir, I can't really say,” Mr. Reid said. “It's not that I don't want to. It's just that, you know, I don't really know from day to day.”

<snip>

The President chuckled. “Well, you got a pretty face,” he told the surprised Mr. Reid. He wasn't done. “You got a pretty face,” he said again. “You're a good-looking guy. Better looking than my Scott anyway.”

Looks like a piece of shit with a lot of dingle berries, IMO.
