Rhandi,
I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and our local affiliate was bought by a Catholic Radio station so I no longer can receive AAR in my market. I cannot really listen via the web either as I do not have the privacy to do so.
With that being said, I have an idea and I need your help.
I am a veteran of the first gulf war. I was stationed in Incirlik, Turkey with the USAF as a Security Policeman with the 39th TFG. I did not like that war (knew it was for oil) and I certainly do not like this one for all the reasons you have mentioned on your program, which I do not need to remind you of.
I mourn the loss of all our armed forces members, but I truly mourn for the victims here at home, especially the children who will never get to see their dad/mom again. When I look into my son’s eyes, I sometimes wonder what would happen to him if I were to be brought back into the military again and would be killed in combat. What would his life be like? How would he grow up without my guidance and love? How would it affect his life? Who would protect him and teach him how to be a good man?
The soldiers, marines, airman and seaman that have died, are dead…their suffering is ended. It is monumentally sad, but the life sentence inflicted upon the children of our service-members is unforgivable. I know that there are mothers and fathers that weep for their children that have been sacrificed for this unjust war of choice, but who speaks for the kids?
The idea I have is a simple one: I would like to create a website with the pictures of the children who have lost and in some cases have never seen their parents. We could also allow the kids to post a letter to their lost parent for all to see and maybe for them to feel some of the pain these little angles must be going through.
If there is already a website like this, then I would like to know of it and help pass it around. Maybe with your friendship of Cindy, we could get something like this going. I am willing to fund the cost and build the site, but need help in getting the word out.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks
John Brant
