DON'T be mad that the Foley story gets so much press!

If you're about to say that Iraq should be garnering more headlines and concern, you're right. If you're about to say that "A State of Denial" should be garnering more headlines and concern, you're right.

HOWEVER.

Every single time that there's been disaster in Iraq, it's been shrugged off by the media and the public follows along. How many times have you been frustrated by a story that just disappears after a couple of days? It comes up, Bushitters come out with their lines, the media repeats them, and it goes away quickly and all of a sudden, it's yesterday's news and no one's interested. No WMDs? No problem. Casualties? Brushed off. Generals think that things are bad and getting worse? Who cares? It's a one or two day blurb and that's it. Everything is juuuust fine with the Bush administration and is juuuuuust fine with Amurka. No cracks in the armor.

Every time there's been something new come up about the Bush administration's negligence before 9/11, it's been shrugged off by the media and the public follows along. Same deal as Iraq. Lies, excuses, contradictions, expert testimony... all shrugged off and everything is juuuust fine with the Bush administration and is juuuuuust fine with Amurka.

It goes ON and ON and ON. Gannon? No problem. Abramoff? No problem. Scandal after scandal after scandal and still no cracks in the armor.

Now here comes the Foley scandal. It stays on the TV and keeps on staying. Republican leadership is cast in a bad light. Nothing can help the Repukes on this one. Can't blame this one on Clinton without even Joe Scarborough objecting to it. Can't blame this on Democrats. Can't blame this on the liberal media. This scandal sticks like manure-scented superglue. There is NO party line from the Repukes. No circling the wagons. They're scattering like farm-raised quails from Dick Cheney. Every single second this scandal is aired, the underlying message is "Republicans BAD!!" It completely undercuts any of their "family values" campaigns. Just recently, Harold Ford said, "I'm not going to take a lecture on morality from a party that took hush money from a child predator."

SMACK! And the armor is peeled open. There have been so many times that people in this country have overlooked things they shouldn't because they had this unquestioning faith in the Republican Party. Whatever it takes to shake that faith is what I want to see on TV 24/7. It looks as if it's really doing that, too. Here's the hidden bonus, though: when a previously unshakable faith like that gets a good shaking, all but the most hard-core believers start to question everything.

This Foley scandal could win us both houses of Congress. You know what could follow from that? Legitimate congressional investigations into Iraq, 9/11, Halliburton... everything that we've been wanting and screaming for could come about. It is a chance to air all of the evil corruption that is the Republican Party. Their entire house of cards could come tumbling down. Imagine a country where Republicans are seen as morally bankrupt. Where ratings for Hannity, Limbaugh, etc. slip into the cellar. Where Ailes has to sell FoxNews because it could be just as financially bankrupt as it is morally and politically.

Foley could be the first step in all of this. Do NOT bewail this story. Encourage it. Use it. Nurture it. Keep it on the airwaves. If it takes those sick bastards out of power, it's the best story EVER.

2. I felt that way, that this Foley story

was a distraction to the real problems at first but we have to win to get those chairmanships with subpoena power so whatever gets Conyers et al to that is just fine.

6. I think its a "last straw" moment, myself.

I think a lot of the koolaid drinkers could ignore Iraq, cause, hey, they're brown people "over there".
I think a lot of them overlook the huge deficit because they incorrectly think "hey! not my pockets anyhow"

and on and on down the line, they've swallowed whole the republican parade.

but NOW, most of the koolaid drinkers ARE parents. AND the one thing that gets more of a "OMG, that could be ME" reaction is anything that happens to a child or teenager.

I think also their attempts to deflect this scandal are extremely transparent, to EVERYONE.

I think this is making them think back over the previous things they swallowed.

I'm thinking this is like the catalyst that will FINALLY wake people up.

They are clearly panicking about it with the all member conference calls and spin cycles. Anytime they do not control the conversation they are lost they are screwed. The story keeps getting better so they can't stop new developments. They would love this election to be all about Iraq, the so-called War on Terror, Democrats being pussies, and hey why don't we bomb Iran? This is not good for them at all.

I don't care how it happens. When the Cable News is actually talking about Republicans doing anything wrong, well this can only help us.

Here's the pattern I see on MSM cable news. Report on Foley/Hastert, report on "something else", back to Foley/Hastert, report on "something, esle, then back to Foley/Haster/Repubs, and so-on and so-on.

Its really a shame it takes a sex scandal to get the attention of the MSM, but this is one sex scandal I can handle. Hey, GOP, shoe's on the other foot. How's it feel?
