nightmare in pa.
it took a nightmare in pa. to show americans love, spirituality, and forgiveness.whatever my thoughts of the amish people in the past are certainly not what they are today.they have truly exhibited the respect love and gratitude of our maker, whatever each and everyone believes.the kindness shared by these people towards their predator`s family has shown this govt.,evilgelicals, and others just what strenght and kindness can do.our congress, our president and others could certainly learn a lesson in humility from these people.they bother no one and ask for nothing, other then freedom to be who they are.our esteem religious leaders pat robertson, jerry falwell, and james dobson need to spend some time with the amish community to learn what real religiousity is.to the amish people thank you for demonstrating what real humanity is.peace

4. They are truly remarkable people.
We could all learn something from them.

5. If the pampered, pompadoured televangelists spent any time
with the Amish, all they'd take away was how wonderful it is when women know their place, in the kitchen and under the boots of men.

You can't teach a pig to sing opera. It doesn't work and it annoys the pig.

7. women work right alongside their men as well-
and are not silenced like in some evangelical fundie churches-

Want to learn something about Amish women? I recommend reading "Plain and Simple" by Sue Bender-
You'd have to have a desire to understand your own spiritual side to 'get-it' or be willing to acknowledge that you have one, but it's very worth the read.

I don't find the way today's women are used as props to sell all sorts of crap to people- any less offensive than the kind of submission you are ragging about.

And televangelists are simply people who exploit others to their own gain- they are able to change- just like everyone is- they need to understand that the change they make is not simply a "fresh hell" of another flavor.

i'm an ex fundie- emphasis on the word EX- and i've been told i sing quite beautifully.
