Big Dawg said he loves Bush41 ? Just saw on MSNBC
Edited on Fri Oct-06-06 05:19 PM by steve2470
I'm not trying to diss Clinton here, but is he aware of all the dirt that DU'ers and others have dredged up ?

Here is a link and (I guess) and exact quote:

http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/15692306.htm

<snip>

Clinton spoke of his affection for the elder Bush, saying he was someone "I always liked and I always admired. I can now tell you, and may all the Democrats forgive me this close to the election, I love George Bush, I do."

The ceremony ended when Jon Bon Jovi performed the song "Who Says You Can't Go Home" and the two presidents embraced on stage.

3. It was, paraphrasing, I just love this man, George Bush.
Not exactly what he said, but very close. He didn't elaborate from what I saw. He and Bush41 were getting awards.

4. Keep your friends close.......
and you enemies closer. I'm sure the Dawg has this in mind when he's schmoozing with the doddering old fool. Republicans aren't that bright and he could be giving the family secrets away to the one man who has the brass to use it against them. I trust Bill Clinton's judgment.

25. Lol. Thats a fun comment
I trust Clinton's political ability, his intellect, and his ability to communicate.

His judgement is the one area where I think I'll pass on the trust.

But over all, he's the Big Dawg. Gotta love him.

5. Bush2 finally getting nailed for lie after lie, and there's BC hugging on
Bush1 as though there is nothing SERIOUSLY SINISTER about the whole DAMN FAMILY.

Sorry, but he did this for the last two election cycles, and I would hope he'd knock it off for at least this one.

It can make people second guess what they are finally hearing from the media.

to give the old bush a scintilla of humanity when he doesn't deserve it?

Clinton acts he has Stockholm Syndrome sometimes.

26. Because it only serves to show the contrast between the two.
Bush41 is a nice guy, Clinton loves him. Not like Bush43. You don't see Poppy getting all affectionate with 43.

And you don't see Bush43 being the devoted son.

Clinton is a better son than 43. What's wrong with 43?

6. Yeah and what happened to all the support Ned Lamont was
supposed to get from Clinton and Hillary? Is BC so dumb he thinks poppy wouldn't knife him in the back to save his idiot son? I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt after his ass kicking of Chris Wallace but it appears that was an anomaly and he has reverted to his old invertebrate self. And if he's such an astute politician why isn't he in Connecticut trying to rid the Senate of the loathsome Joe Loserman, especially after the things Loserman said about him. I don't want to disappoint those who think he's just biding his time, but he's only interested in lining his own pockets and he isn't going to come back and save us all from the corporate types - he has become a corporate type and he likes it just fine.

13. you got it....I'm STEAMED. he doesn't appear too anxious to mix
it up in this election cycle, does he?

he could make a real difference in the close races, and there are more than enough to keep him busy EVERY DAY til the election gets stolen in four weeks

WHY can't he put off this bipartisan love fest til afterwards, huh?

what the FUCK is his agenda?

and to act toward that family the way he does after all they've put him through

who does he think he is, anyway?

16. Because for years there has been another layer to the story.
In DC there has been talk for some time that there is an ideological struggle that's been going on between the Clinton faction and the Kennedy faction.

18. Just basic insider stuff that political writers know about, but can't get
a clear story to dissect it.

It's easy to see, though, when you consider how furious Kennedy was with Jimmy Carter, because back then, Jimmy governed as a conservative Democrat, and Kennedy was horrified and ran against Carter in the primaries.

Anyway, I think it's more ideology than personality based - as Kennedy has always been more interested in good legislation than he is garnering a spotlight.

21. Awww
That's sort of sweet. Clinton never really had a father, and I think he sees Bush Sr. as a kind of substitute father whom he can look up to & learn from. Bush, on the other hand, never really had a son he could be proud of - and through his friendship w/Clinton, he gets to help & mentor to someone from a younger generation who he can really respect. It's a beautiful love story.

27. I commented on this earlier today. B41 was crappy in most ways
but he wasn't actually a really HORRIBLE pretzeldent like his deranged spawn, if you think about it.
At least he had the sense not to (try to) occupy Baghdad. There is a political component to Clinton's remarks that might be a bit too subtle for many of us to grasp at the moment (and I'm not saying I know something nobody else does...just that my instinct tells me that Bill has rarely committed a huge
political bungle...Monica excepted)

But I might be completely full of shit...

let the books be closed on Poppy Bush - no more pursuit of outstanding issues with IranContra, BCCI and then Clinton's coverup of CIA drugrunning.

Had these criminal covert activities been pursued and documents opened, a 9-11 would never have happened, an Iraq war would never have happened, and NO BUSH would ever have been allowed NEAR the White House again.

And Islamic hatred of the West would NOT be at an alltime high.
