Senator Says U.S. Should Rethink Iraq Strategy

WASHINGTON, Oct. 5 — The Republican chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee warned Thursday that the situation in Iraq was “drifting sideways” and said that the United States should consider a “change of course” if violence did not diminish soon.

The chairman, Senator John W. Warner of Virginia, expressed particular concern that Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki had not moved decisively against sectarian militias.

“In two or three months if this thing hasn’t come to fruition and this level of violence is not under control, I think it’s a responsibility of our government to determine: Is there a change of course we should take?” Senator Warner said.

2. It's always all about elections
The original war resolution was passed less than two weeks before the first major election after 9-11. This was a cynical exercise from the right to get their way by scaring everybody into letting them do as they pleased. Care was taken to make sure Diebold stole Cleland's re-election, and so important was this that they dissolved the VNS.

Wellstone was killed by the reactionaries. Tar me as a wacko conspiricist, but that's what happened. They HAD to win.

The reactionaries CANNOT lose; the things that will be exposed simply can't be brought to light.

Expect anything.

There will be major electronic fraud.

Don't fume, dispute me now if you disagree.
