3. California Democrats Are Idiots
Whoever is in charge of this state's party nominees is a RETARD.

Why the Democrats can't win a state which HATES King george, is amazing to me. Of course, it's thanks to the FUCKERS in my county, that the state is even in play to begin with. Everything North of Los Angeles is firmly Democrat territory.

I'm in firmly a red co. and I'm far north of LA. People forget about these crazy mountain folk; of which I only live amongst.

27. we have the same problem all over the country
NY is going to have their first Dem governor in ages - the same with Massachusetts. But, for years it wasn't happening for Dems in either state.

CT is going to be stuck with 20 years with no Dem governor when 2010 rolls around.

Unfortunately, I can't change the primary votes of the majority (of which I was no part of, as usual). Edited to add: I'll go with the D, but I don't think Angelides was the best person to run again Ahhhhhnold.

6. I just received something from Law Enforcement in CA.
They are endorsing Angelides. The firemen will, too. So will the nurses. He certainly doesn't have the Hispanic vote. Don't believe those polls. At one point before Christmas, Arnold polled at 29%. Suddenly, Rove's goons come in and his poll #'s are high. Sure.

I'm not saying Angelides is a good candidate. I'm just saying it 'aint over 'til it's over.

I'm not sure why people continue to create these kinds of threads with little fact to actually back them up. Seems unnecessary.

9. Thank you!

Phil is at least a worthy man.

Arnold is hated in California.
He has done nothing to change anyone's mind since the last election.

The best adds are running with pictures linking Bush to Arnold.

They are very strong.

Don't say that California voters are nuts because I'll always believe that Arnold never won the f1st time, Diebold did.

Flame away but I get sick of people saying that we don't have the right candidate!

The GROPER is no better than Foley.

If I had my way I would pull out clips of him with Foley, one is messing with young boys and the other GROPED young woman!

13. Have you seen that ad? It sounds like a Nazi Rally chant.
It's AWESOME! Truly.

Arnold is HATED in California. About a month ago, Maria came to a town near me and I understand she left early because the PROTESTERS were too loud and raucous. So, basically, they chased her out of town. All because of her pathetic hubby...LOL!!!

Who gives a shit if Speilberg endorses Arnold. No one else does.

10. I'm concerned about this too.
Arnie is acting like he's our buddy now. He signed that global warming thing, gave money back to the school, meets up with mayor of SF (how could I refuse, gush, golly gee). All for cutting global warming but will be give up his gas guzzling Hummers...I doubt it. If he wins, it's back to being mean again and taking the money away from the schools and dumping on firemen, teachers, and nurses.

Don't be fooled again voters. Angie may not be glamour boy, but hell, I wish he'd come out fighting.

Roll over, roll over, and they all rolled over and one fell out...

11. Two factors are causing this
1) Angelides is running the worst campaign for CA governor I've ever seen.

2) Ahnuld is actually running a very good campaign. He's done a number of things to distance himself from Bush. He's supported and signed several key pieces of environmental legislation and he's managed to do this without pissing off his rw base too much.

15. Me. I'm voting for Angelides
But frankly, he's a lousy candidate.

To give credit where it's due, Schwarzenegger began reinventing himself a year ago after the special election debacle and it's worked very well for him.

Unfortunately, that means four more years of a governor who doesn't have a clue what to do about the budget crisis and spends way too much time at political fundraisers. Which is really why we threw his predecessor out of office.

18. "we" didn't throw his predecessor out of office...
the rw bought his way in. Which still makes me angry--they were whining about how deep in debt CA was, yet they spend how much money on a special election? Didn't make any sense...

given there's no response from the original poster. The op also provided no facts to support his assertion, no links to polls stating Arnie was ahead, no reference to an article...nothing. Just a blanket statement posted to get others up in arms prior to the election.

:eyes:

I expect we'll see lots of these in the coming weeks.

Has anyone actually *seen* the latest poll numbers?

If so, share with the rest of us!

Edit-- The lastest I could find is a month old... anyway:

From Rasmussen-
Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) 47%
Phil Angelides (D) 39%

It was a dead heat in the mid-summer with Angelides having a 2 point lead. But Angelides's support has been eroding ever since. Ahnold gained 3 points since July, while Phil lost 7.

and considering that polls aren't necessarily representative of what the votes will look like, we still have hope--and work to do. ;)

26. Don't have time at the moment...
so, can't research all the editorial license taken and statistical information printed in this article, so take this post for what it's worth and research further:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2006/10/03/BAGD6LH7KN1.DTL&type=politics

I'd certainly enjoy seeing something promising! I do think Angelides is a good man with pretty darn good record and I have absolutely nothing against him, but I knew when I voted in the primaries that charisma was going to be a BIG thing. Angelides is a wonk (which I most definitely appreciate), but that won't necessarily equate to winning an election these days. People these days aren't very deep. So sad, but too true.

Some candidates have both qualities, but it is rare these days. RIP Ann.

30. California needs its own third party
Unless the Democratic party starts caring about winning here, we should just have a Free California party with a straight-up agenda of resisting the Federal government on anything the people of California disagree with them about (marijuana, environmental regulations, etc.)

31. Couldn't have said it better myself!
And, I suspect, that this is a trend that is going to occur across the country, state by state, eventually. I suspect I'll still be alive to see some of the results, but I'm not quite sure how it will hash itself out in the long run. Scary prospect... I look forward not for myself but for the future of my son and his kids; should he have them, of course.
