This is pretty interesting. There have been wild swings in the political party that controls the house through the years. Things have been more stable the last 60 years, but it has a history of major changes. Have a look.

ive been on wikipedia learning about the whigs and the free soilers, etc.. Its really interesting.. However, on the side the last column lists del./res. I figure res. is resigned, but for the life of me I cant think what del. is...

remember flamers, no question is stupid when its meant to educate.. :)

6. I think it means delegate.

The delegates from PR, VI, Guam, etc. I'm not sure what Res. is.

I thought delegate but it wasn't until you said PR and all till it hit me and made sense.. It probably includes DC also.. res is resigned I think
