Why is the Man Who Stole Ohio Campaigning with a White Supremacist?
by Bob Fitrakis and Harvey Wasserman

J. Kenneth Blackwell, the man who stole Ohio’s 2004 presidential election, was out campaigning October 4, 2006 with a man widely viewed as one of America’s leading white supremacists. Blackwell is an African-American.

He is also the Republican nominee for governor of Ohio. As Secretary of State, he was the GOP point man for stealing the 2004 presidential vote that gave George W. Bush a second term. As co-chair of the state’s Bush-Cheney re-election campaign, Blackwell engineered a complex strategy of confusion, disenfranchisement and theft that mirrored what was done by Katherine Harris in Florida 2000. Harris was rewarded with a safe Congressional seat, and is now the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate. Polls show Blackwell trailing between 12-20 points in his gubernatorial race, but few Ohio insiders doubt his ability to steal the necessary votes, if he can get away with it. Currently, Blackwell operatives are stressing that he’s “only 12 points down” and that they believe the race will tighten significantly by Election Day.

Blackwell toured the state with Larry Pratt, author of ARMED PEOPLE VICTORIOUS, which advocates the creation of militant right-wing militias. Pratt has spoken and shared platforms in the past with Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazi Aryan Nation members. He was forced to take a leave of absence from Pat Buchanan’s 1996 presidential campaign over charges of white supremacist and anti-semitic views. Pratt’s 150,000-member Gun Owners of America is proudly to the right of the National Rifle Association.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Pratt says he couldn’t be a racist because he is campaigning with Blackwell, an African-American. Blackwell is “our kind of guy,” says Pratt, in reference to Blackwell’s support of gun owners’ rights.

1. Blackwell is something else...

Could he be the world's first black white supremacist? Or is just that he's become so assimilated into the Republican Borg that it doesn't bother him at all to be hanging around with guys like Pratt? Lately I've been wondering how there can be gay Republicans, but this is even more bizarre.

2. It's kinda like the Dave Chappelle skit
The one about the black white supremecist. He was blind, and didn't know he was black. And as long as he had his hood on, neither did anyone else.

The problem is, Blackwell's not blind. He's just crazy!

3. You just have to wonder if Mr. Blackwell has a serious learning
disability, or is perhaps even mentally retarded.

At the very least, the man is a fool.

WAKE UP MR. BLACKWELL, YOU WHITE SUPREMACIST-ASS KISSING ELECTION THIEF!!! :puke:

4. Blackwell is a lunatic
What scares me most about the upcoming elections in Ohio is not the possibility of Blackwell actually winning the governorship (well, at least not by an honest vote) but the fact that the man who stole Ohio is still overseeing the fall election even though he is a candidate (he refused to step aside) and has held stock in Diebold. Of course, this is the same man who has tried every way conceivable to disenfranchise thousands of Ohio voters, primarily the poor, minority and elderly voters in Dem districts. So it's no surprise to me he would be hanging with a racist. Blackwell is certifiable, that's for sure.

5. I am getting ready to insult many people but here it is
Blackwell, Condi and the other blacks like them are the "House Niggers"...I am kind of tired of being polite to people like these,

you see they will do anything to believe they are part of the masters house, they will sellout their own people, they will bargain their souls away just to be with perceived nobility.....but in the end the still are the help....they will be the first thrown under the bus....

I am saying this because this is what happened during slavery and this is what is happening now.....I am not the only black that believes this...it is crude and it is rude...but it is the truth...sorry.....

6. I agree with you 1000%
Money, power, prestige... That's what he believes his place should be and he's willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING that's good and decent to stay faithful to his masters.

Anybone who votes for him because they think that he means a step up for poor, black people is a blind fool.

9. Being a white guy, I am not about to start dropping the "N word, even
with a "house" in front of it. I know my wife, who is Filipino will often make comments about other Filipinos that make my jaw drop. I guess I belong to a, perhaps small, segment of the white male population that has been acculturated to avoid negative comments and names calling with regard to minorities (racial, ethnic, sexual persuasion, etc.) and women.

I see people on these boards being called Nazis and freepers (not sure which is supposed to be worse) when the exchange of opinions starts to deteriorate. I am uncomfortable when my wife says "How can a Filipino ....... ?" My thought (and thought only) is that if I said that I could be fairly accused of professing that Filipinos are not able to think for themselves and sometimes not agree with each other. (The response to me would be "Hey, all you white guys don't agree with each other.")

Of course, it is easier and more acceptable to criticize someone in your own group than to start casting stones at others. Each group has an identity that includes its history and culture with deep rooted beliefs about life and society. I am not a sociologist, so I wonder if there is a history or theory to how, when or why groups have evolved from close knit ones with a preference for a common outlook to ones that no longer particularly care about an increased diversity in outlook and opinion.

12. You know...
I've found in the six years I've lived here, there really is a lot to like in Ohio. That piece of garbage blackwell is not among them. I really look forward to the day he gets a nice fair trial and a long prison sentence.
