All the reports about how in trouble the GOP is make it more and more
difficult for the GOP to steal elections. If the Democrats only pick up 4 or 5 House seats and 1 or 2 Senate seats it will stink more than anything from 2000 or 2004. There are too many polls, too many pundits and too much the conventional wisdom these days that the Democrats will take back the House. If it doesn't happen, it will be outright theft in broad daylight and witnessed by the entire country. It may end up with ax handles and torches in the streets at midnight.

1. It will stink, but it will still be the result.
They'll certify themselves and once again say "FUCK AMERICA." They could give a shit what we think, because America has demonstrated to them that we lack the will to do a damn thing about it. Let's fill up the SUV and go to the mall!

2. I disagree
I don't know if it was on Scarborough or Olbermann tonight -- I was working in another room and couldn't hear everything clearly -- but someone was interviewed and said something to the effect that the current crop of pukes might be bad, but they (the person being interviewed) would rather vote for a sleazy puke based on the platform than for any Dem ever, because of the general nature of the Democratic party and its (?) platform.

This is what I fear will happen -- We'll get all excited about these polls that show all this disaffection in the puke ranks, but there will ultimately be a reckoning at which the puke voters will hold their noses and vote for the hypocritical, corrupt, bribe-taking, teen-ager-lusting, lying, deceitful, repulsive, know-nothing and do-nothing, chickenhawk warmongers anyway.

It's not enough to get them to dislike the candidates in their own party; we have to give them a reason to vote FOR the Dems. And I don't yet see the Democratic party leadership doing that.

4. Some of them just won't vote, and that's OK with me. If they can't
vote for a Democrat, then NOT voting for a Republican is a gain for us.

5. Too bad you missed the visuals.
I heard them on Olberman, and they don't matter any more.

3. The outright theft in
broad daylight has already happened, when it happens again will anyone care?

I wouldn't hold my breath on the axe handles and torches, Americans in general don't give a shit about anything but their own small world as long and as the cable works and there is a beer in the frige, who cares.

Doesn't really make much difference at this point who is in office though, they all play for the same team.

Good luck with the revolution though, we don't need a different party in power we need a different system, capitalism has run it's course and does not work, as history has shown us.

The system is corrupt and beyond repair, we need real change, not window dressing.

6. That's why they will have to declare martial law and suspend
the elections. They have as good as done away with Habeas Corpus, watch Keith Olbermann tomorrow night, so they are already half way there.

11. I don't think martial law will be needed
The die has been cast.

Ya gotta ask yourself why the US media is going against it's masters, why now?

We are being set up, Dems will follow the plan if they are allowed in 'power' as evidenced by their actions (or lack of) in recent years. The Dems may just 'win' this time to show all is on the up and up and that 'democracy' is still alive in the US.

We are being played again and most will fall for the ruse once more. Until we as a people demand a change in the system itself, we are nothing but good little consumers and the march of fascism will continue unchallenged.

17. yup
The more things change, the more they stay the same

Technology has given them total and complete control over the masses, if things get too bad for them all they need do is cut power, food supplies or water, we are totally at their mercy, no need for guns and bullets to keep the people in line.

7. The media has turned.
***That's*** the only thing that matters.

The media has been very insistent on saying that the 'values voters' that they used as their excuse for covering up the last stolen election will not work this time.

They have repeated over and over again that the 'values voters' will not vote for the GOP. They have shown that they will not go there again. They might go somewhere else. We will see.

It's the MEDIA who decides, not the voters.

13. Agree
My only point is that they have signaled that 'value voters' can't be used to steal the next election. Maybe they'll think of a new quip/excuse. But for now, they are refuting the last one they used to excuse not reporting on stolen elections.

The Foley thingy has taken way longer than three days. That's part of the media's signal that they won't do the 'value voters' scam again. In fact, maybe the Foley thingy is their repentance? Or maybe sex sells?

12. And who owns the media?
Edited on Tue Oct-10-06 12:05 AM by LiberalUprising
As far as I know it's the same owners as during the last 'elections'

Why does the media appear to be turning, that is the real question.

The media does not say anything without permission.

The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way, and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theatre."
~ Frank Zappa, 1977.

15. "Permission' was granted, once again, to Woodward.
Edited on Tue Oct-10-06 12:19 AM by gumby
Figure that one out.

Am in complete agreement with the Zappa quote. Woodward and the "media" are arranging the deck chairs. Seems there is (hopefully) going to be a new act on the stage of the Titanic.

18. It's the name of the game.
However, I still think there are some 'good guys' in the Democratic Party. Hope to see what they can/will do if they win this election. If they do their job, 2008 is wide open.

20. There may be some
'good guys' in the Democratic Party, too bad they have no power or backing from the majority of Dems, mere window dressing.

I have very little faith that a handfull of 'good guys' are any match for the corporate owned majority.

Our only hope is a system wide change, this system is only leading us into fascism.
