Wow! Vermont Republican feminist just called WJ!!
And I believe she was a genuine Republican. She was po'd about neocons taking over the party and turning it into "the party of death." The issues she talked about as important to her were consistent with traditional conservative values. But she was upset that the same people who said women were not be able to fight in wars are now sitting in DC and the women are on the front lines fighting. She also called the administration "neocons" and "chickenhawks." Said she will not vote for Rs again.

5. A friend from Maine has been my ONLY conservative friend
I have always called her a typical New England conservative -- her whole family is. It's taken almost six years, but she and her whole family have rejected the Republican label nd the Republican party, and now consider themselves moderate Dems. Okay, calm down -- they aren't DLC Dems. They are socially liberal and fiscally conservative, but do believe in helping people. And, she has FINALLY got it through her head that Affirmative Action is a GOOD THING.

Little baby steps turn into runs, people!

6. We have a friend who has been a staunch Liberterian
for a good number of years. A couple of days ago he told me that he and his wife are voting Democratic Party this time because they want these Republicans out. I was surprised. He holds Liberterian party events at his place frequently. They are just fed up though.
