Who wants to place a bet that he's resigning as Speaker?

5. I would almost guarantee it.
Make ridiculous excuses and blame everyone else.
Assturd and his sickening comrades give humans a bad name.

6. Interesting, but I still see no upside for him saying anything
but he may want to demonstrate he's got the situation "in hand"

Maybe he is ready to dismiss some of those closeted, ass-covering, gay-faciliating staffers.
Or maybe he is going to announce all pages will be required to wear burkas and surrender all portable communications devices.

in a positive mood today so I'll hope he'll announce that he's resigning.

10. I'll bet he does. And that will be heavily advanced as "the end of it".
That will be the next media push—anyone "harping" on the Foley scandal will be admonished for politicizing it.

I would, of course, be VERY happy to be wrong.

13. He's Firing Palmer I'd Make Book On It
Denny is being so brave firing his Chief of Staff (please take that literally as Palmer is Denny's long time lover) and possibly the deputy COS, the other roommate. Brave Sir Robin err I mean Denny.

26. Letting Scott Resign Softens The Blow A Bit
Still there is the part about Scott & Denny's relationship. Did you hear that Denny was in trouble in IL circa 1980 for inappropriate conduct with kids that he coached. My spin is that Hastert knew what Foley was doing but Foley was blackmailing him because of Denny's own past.

The nest of vipers has been disturbed. This will be the end of the GOP.

http://www.blogactive.com/2006/10/call-them-out.html

Denny's Director of Speaker Operations was "outed" as gay and in a position to protect Foley.

Listen for the name Samuel Lancaster at that press conference maybe.

edit stupid typo

25. I'll bet no resignation. Just another "big" announcement
like "progress is being made by the ethics committee!"

or "we've had 15 calls to the page hotline!"

or "there's now an official Justice Dept. investigation so nobody is allowed to talk about it anymore!"

something that looks like BIG progress, but isn't.

Outside bet? it would be an announcement that his two aides/lovers have resigned. I'm telling you, Denny is home with his adoring fans here in the western suburbs. He's just spent a week with his peeps begging him to stay cause they luuuuvv him. He's had his ego stroked and his confidence massaged, he's ready to brawl. I just find it almost unbelievable that he'll resign anything... yet. Until and unless they dig up some dirt on Denny of a sex scandal nature, I'm betting he's staying put.
