Sorry for the map in French. I could not find the equivalent in English.

Sadly, the US is in very poor company among the countries which had executions in 2005: China, Iran, Lybia, Pakistan, ...

Legend:

Red: still have the death penalty.

Red + * : have used it in 2005.

Pink: have death penalty, but have not used it in 10 years.

Light blue: abolished but for exceptional crimes.

Dark blue: abolished.

change the point I was making. The article this map is part of listed Japan among the country that use death penalty.
