3. I still think it's doable. The R's could cut the lead to single digits

in a "last minute surge", and the machines could make up the difference. For example, a Repuke candidate who is trailing by 15 points, could get a boost the weekend before the election (from some event that the media can attribute his surge to), close it to within 7 points, and steal it from there.
