Do any of you get calls from "Tim from Mortgage Services" endlessly?
Edited on Tue Oct-10-06 11:19 AM by Armstead
For about a year, we get about two or three calls a week froma recording. "Hi, I'm Tim from Mortgage Services, and I have a lender on the line who is prepared to offer you a low interest loan. If you would like to speake with a representative, please press 1 now..."

It is one compamny, and these people are relentless. Most companies at least stop calling when you tell them to remove your name from their call list. But not these guys.

I have literally told them to take our name off the list 30 times. I have been pleasant about it, I've been adamant, I've used subterfuge by pretending to be inyterested to reach their "mortgage officers." I've even threatened to report them. They always promise to do so, but nothing works. I also can't find out who they are.

Frankly, I've given up fighting them, and just treat it as a nuisance and hang up instantly whenever "Tim" makes his inevitable call and introduces himself.

I'm just wondering if anyone else gets the same kind of calls from this company, and if anyone knows who the devil they are.

1. "Tim" often has a very thick Indian accent
What I found odd is that I didn't start getting those calls until I paid my mortgage off last spring.

I also get calls about my credit card balance. I haven't had a credit card since 1991.

5. This Tim is an All American Guy
Same recording over and over again.

I'm wondering if it is some "get rich at home" schemes in which peoeple are given a basic recording and left on thei own to find suckers, er customers.

I can't believe any company would want to keep wasting their time and resources endlessly calling the same people who have told them over and over that we are not interested in their damn mortgage.

4. you can file a complaint
the fine is rather large for the company. here's a link https://www.donotcall.gov/Complain/ComplainCheck.aspx

it might be specific to being on the 'do not call' registry (a good idea to get on). I think there is another place you can file a complaint if you have told someone to call and they keep calling.

7. The calls don;t seem to be tracable...
I've talked to operators, and they say that such calls can be coming from a number of different sources, and tracking the number is very difficult.

9. next time they call, ask them for the name of their business
or a callback number. they're trying to sell you something, so i imagine they'd give you the info without much teeth pulling.

6. I just don't answer the phone unless I know whose calling.
If it's important, people will leave a message. End of problem.

She is a recording and there is no way to tell her that I want to be taken off the list.

11. I always ask for a supervisor
I never got results asking them to take my name off their lists until I started asking to speak to their supervisor. Then I tell her/him to put me on their "do not call" list. That worked :)

I used to get a recording all the time for some unidentified realtor asking if I wanted to sell my house. I finally pressed "1" to get a callback, just so I could find out what company this was and report them. They never called back, and I never heard from the recording again. Weird.

I recently got a call at 9am -- no voice, just background noise. I hung up.

9:10 am -- phone rings again, same background noise, but this time a VERY heavily-accented voice (Chinese-like accent) started babbling at me. I could only make out the words "home mortgage." I kept asking him what company he was calling for, but I couldn't understand him. He gave the phone to his supervisor. I couldn't understand her either, except for "home mortgage." I finally said, "I'm on a Do Not Call list, and you're breaking the law by calling me." She kept on babbling, and I don't think she understood what I'd said. I hung up.

11:30 am -- same guy calls me again. Again I asked what company he was calling for, but couldn't understand him. I asked him to spell it. LOANGETTER. Then the line went dead. I reported them to Missouri's No-Call complaint department. (Bless AG Jay Nixon!)

Seriously, how do they expect to sell anything if people can't even understand them?! Loangetter.com is wasting their money on this obviously outsourced phone bank. Hahaha!

If your state doesn't have a Do Not Call registry (or even if it does), get on the National Do Not Call list. I'm on both Missouri & national lists. I know Missouri's is GREAT -- not sure how helpful the national one is, but it can't hurt.
