To Rice: "10 on a scale of 1 to 10" - George Tenet, July 2001

This is the warning given to NATION SECURITY ADVISOR Condoleeza Rice in July of 2001 by then Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, a full two months before the attacks of September 11, 2001. Unless it has slipped your mind, there was also another warning in the form of a Presidential Daily Briefing handed to the cabal at Crawford on August 6, 2001, just 36 days before the attacks, that was entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside US".

Some of you may remember the events of that day vicariously through the television, as I did, and some of you may have actually experienced that day very personally.

GOD DAMN IT!!!

Sorry. All the Foley and N Korea are getting to me.

I am still new here on DU. I found this place on a quest for those who feel what I am feeling. This place fits me like a glove and as new as I am here, it's the FIRST time I've ever supported any website other than my own. I actually made a donation. Unprecedented for me. I fell in love with you people right from the get-go. And now, I am asking a favor.

Foley and Hastert and the whole Page situation is cause for concern and so is the N Korea thing, but those things have nowhere near the implications of having ignored warnings that would have saved thousands of lives not just in the attacks of 9/11 but also in Iraq.

My favor is this, keep this post kicked and add more links and info and leads to it and vote it to the main page and lets just not forget this issue and let it slip into oblivion.

Thanks to all of you.

1. Yes....that is the reality isn't it....they did have ample warning
perhaps if they would have publicized the threat may involve airlines Americans would have been aware....

Deriliction of duty....

They ignored it because it came from Clinton appointed professionals....

Did any Democrats even remark on these denials within the hallowed halls of Congress?

3. .
Vote for Repubs because they are strong on national security while Dems are a danger for Americans. Correct?
Thank you very much. So glad the Repubs were in office when 9/11 happened.

7. Did I say that?
No. But maybe now with the Foley flap the Dems will start being more vocal about confronting the Repub lies. We can hope. Unfortunately so far, they've felt compelled to play the political game instead of just doing the right thing and standing up for integrity. If you have a problem with that then you're in denial just as much as any Repub.

Excuse me? You probably thought that my response was a reply to your post (see the field response to... on the right). And yeah, I didn't really mean what I said.

But I agree in a way that I too have the impression so far, that the Dems aren't vocal enough about the long list of republican failures. The new revelations about the 9/11 warnings alone should have killed the Repubs. One can't really fuck up more like the Repubs in these 6 years.

9. Every single failure should be pounded by Dems every day.

That is what campaigning is supposed to be about, pointing out the opponents failures and providing solutions.

16. I did think that.
And I'm glad to know that I was mistaken. But if I hadn't been then I prolly wouldn't have said what I did, and I think it needs to be said to those to whom it does apply. So, thanks!

I truly believe in my heart of hearts, if Al Gore had been president, September 11, 2001 would have been just another nice day.

Instead, we have this...

18. Exactly. Instead, untold thousands are dead, we've been duped,
we've been robbed and we've been been bent over and sodomized. And when I say we, I include the Iraqis.

11. What July memo? It was a meeting that took place between
Rice and Tenet, after months of stonewalling by the Bush Admin, where Tenet emphatically described the threat with specific mentions of aircraft. In that meeting, he told Rice that the likelihood of an attack inside the US was a "10 on a scale of 1 to 10".

Your post has a tone of skeptism that this meeting (you said classified memo) actually took place. It was confirmed at the National Archives and Rice, who did not deny this meeting but said she doesn't recall the contents, was conveniently on a tour of the Middle East, away from the glare of the American blogosphere.

considering what has happened since that meeting is no longer secret, any documents produced for this meeting should be declassified.

13. Yep. He's actually promoting a book right now. I think he was on
live with Wolfie yesterday. He was not asked about that in light of the new infomation about the July meeting that came off the Sec State's airplane somewhere in the skies over the Middle East last week. I kept waiting for it and it never came...the question that is.

20. With pleasure and gratitude.
K'd, R'd, and every other sort of boost or support I can offer!

Since October 5th I've been sending the two links below to every friend and relative I have, in hopes of waking up a few of the "sleepers" and further informing and encouraging those who've already seen the light about this administration.

http://onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/cat_index_47.shtml

The 10-5-06 lead article in Online Journal's "Reclaiming America" section by the brilliant Bernard Weiner is a must-read, and every other piece linked to on that page that I've read so far has been well worth my time, too.

Online Journal is also the source of what IMO was the best commentary written this year on the fifth anniversary of September 11th, from which the following paragraphs are taken.

The Anglo-American empire’s 9/11 atrocity: criminality’s zenith
By Larry Chin

<snip>

In the eyes of anyone with even a modest grasp of deep political realities, 9/11 was the grotesque and obvious (sloppy) work of the Bush administration; not an “intelligence failure” but an intelligence success, made even more successful thanks to the ignorance of a fearful, poorly educated and easily manipulated American populace. The facts have more than amply proven it.

Michel Chossudovsky’s America’s ‘War on Terrorism’ and Michael C. Ruppert’s Crossing the Rubicon: The Decline of the American Empire At The End of The Age Of Oil exhaustively detail why 9/11 happened, how the Bush administration carried it out, who has benefited, and what has happened to the world since. Let a true commemoration of 9/11 begin and end with these two definite prosecutions, along with the material contained at their related web sites (Center for Research on Globalization and From The Wilderness). Until and unless the accused criminal forces succeed in shutting down these resources, the proof is there for all to see.

The facts lead directly to the offices of the Bush administration, not “outside enemies” or “al-Qaeda." The facts expose the entire “war on terrorism” as a lie. The tidal wave of 9/11 propaganda and deception cannot wash them away.

To accept any aspect of the US government’s account of 9/11, whether it is the brutal deceptions of the Bush administration (and the equally complicit neoliberal faction of the US elite), the limited hangout and cover-up of the 9/11 commission, or any of the incoherent “anti-conspiracy” ramblings of Left progressive “intellectuals," is to condone murder, and the absolute rule of criminals.

You can read the full article here:

http://onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_1187.shtml

Some may feel the Associate Editor at the Online Journal goes too far in this piece, but I do not. I used to think so, but not anymore.

And I believe that someday this article or ones like it will be looked upon as landmark wake-up calls that came at a time when there WAS STILL TIME to halt the march of the jackbooted PNACker neocon thugs now in power. This isn't a wild-eyed conspiracy nut's ravings, for certain; and I wonder how history will record the events of the years 2000-2006 in America?

When I saw how you titled your OP, I knew immediately (or thought I did) what you were going to say, and I'm VERY happy to see this one getting the attention it deserves. Well, on its way to receiving that attention, anyway!

May the process continue apace and may our priorities stay ordered; only that way can we hope to truly combat the forces at work to dismantle and destroy our nation from within.

:patriot:
