MSNBC just reported that Hastert, Fordham, and
that other staffer of his (having a mental block on the name) are not just coworkers but roommates. First time I've heard this mentioned anywhere but this board.

Not disparaging gays, folks.

It is PEEE-culiar that The leader of the Gay-Marriage-denying House is rooming with a person whose rights he would like to curtail.

politics makes strange BED-fellows, doesn't it?

Like I said in my previous reply to the first post, I'll wait for confirmation but.. man, if this is why DeLay was OK with Hastert's ascension and didn't want the man to leave... what a sick institution. And I mean the blackmail, not the sexual orientation issues.

38. The other housemate is Scott Palmer.
Don't know if he's gay or not, but he is Denny's Chief of Staff. That same article which mentions that Palmer and Hastert are housemates states that Palmer is "more powerful than all but a few House members."

David Corn claimed to have seen "The List" of gay Republican staffers and claims that there are currently 9 gay Republican Chiefs of Staff on Capitol Hill. So there is a small statistical chance that this guy is one of those guys.

47. Okay, that makes sense now.
Kris Jansing had been talking about Fordham and Hastert's chief of staff (no name). Then she mentioned Hastert and went on to say something about these men not being ordinary coworkers but roommates too. I had remembered an article somewhere late last week about Hastert living with someone other than his wife and for some reason remembered him as having 2 male roommates. There's something I'm missing about how many and who lives where, but I thought it was interesting that Hastert's living arrangements were being mentioned at all on a cable outlet.

36. The OP got the names wrong
It's Palmer and Stokke

http://www.suntimes.com/news/sweet/89009,CST-NWS-sweet09.article

On the housing front: Hastert owns a town house in Washington, and when he is in the city, he lives there with chief of staff Scott Palmer -- at the center of a dispute of what he knew and when -- and deputy chief of staff Mike Stokke. Hastert's 2005 financial disclosure statement shows rental income of between $5,001 and $15,000 from the town house.

I wrote about Hastert's roommates in the Sun-Times last year and put it this way in a September 2002 article in the magazine Illinois Issues:

"Hastert's inner circle consists of a small, trusted group of aides, mostly all white and all male. Stokke, his political adviser, and Scott Palmer, his chief of staff, have worked with Hastert for years. They know Illinois politics as well as the national scene. While in Washington, the three room together in a town house Hastert owns, where none of them has cooked a meal since 1986. Says Hastert, 'I made tea once.' His sons also have bunked at the town house."

12. O'Donnell of the NYT wrote it up over the weekend or just before.
He uses language that practically screams that Palmer and Hastert are lovers, talks all weekend about closeted gay Republicans and will the MSM won't the MSM talk about what they know. Then BlogActive names two closeted staffers, one in Hastert's office, and it is NOT Palmer. What a frickin' letdown.

14. a song, maestro....
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Love The One You're With Lyrics

There's a Rose

In a fisted Glove

And the eagle flies with the dove

And if you can't be with the one you love

It's alright

Go ahead and love the one, love the one, love the one your
with

Love the one, love the one, love the one your with

If your guy can't come to you

And you don't remember who your talking to

Your concentration slips away

Because your baby, she is so so far away

Chorus: And there's a rose in a fisted glove

And the eagle flies with the dove

And if you cant be with the one you love

Love the one your with

Don't be angry

Don't be sad

Don't sit cryin' for good times you had

There's a girl right next to you

And she's waiting for something to do

Chorus

It was just kind of tossed out toward the end of an article.

Seems as tho these fuckers spend every day together. And they fly back to Illinois together every weekend.

And they all knew about Foley individually but the topic never surfaced when they were together.

Yeah, right.

40. I found this about Haestert's other Roommate:

Just ran into Jean Hastert, the wife of House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) in the hallway outside the speakers' Capitol office suite. She just dropped in on her husband.

It's a rare D.C. appearence for Mrs. Hastert. She was here a few weeks ago for President Bush's State of the Union address. She was off to an afternoon tea, at an ambassador's residence, sponsored by some international group.

When in Washington, the speaker lives in a group house with his chief of staff, Scott Palmer and top deputy, Mike Stokke.

I asked her if she is bunking with the guys.
She is not. She stays in a hotel.

New meaning to "strange bedfellows" for the Repukes. Personally as a white hetero female being Gay or Lesbian isn't something that bothers me What BOTHERS me is that you lie, cheat, hide and use the fact to denigrate others because of it. ESPECIALLY, if YOU BE ONE Yourself!!
