I am sick with despair that Angelides is the candidate in California
Edited on Tue Oct-10-06 01:01 PM by Stevendsmith
Regardless of whatever meltdown the rethugs face in November, Californians can be assured that the governor's office will be held by BushCo's man -- Arnold.

Angelides is so ineffective, so stereotypically weak, such a classic bureacratic figure, that I honestly wonder if the Democratic establishment is just taking a dive in California.

What in god's name were they thinking when they chose Angelides as the man to defeat Arnold?

1. You are 100% on that.
The REAL Gov race will be in 2010.

2. They should have drafted George Clooney
In a state that chooses actors over bureaucrats and politicians, George Clooney would have kicked Arnold's ass. He's smart, caring, and--need I say it?--GORGEOUS! :loveya:

4. You really have to wonder, don't you?
If you discount the theory that they really don't want to win, the mind boggles. But the Dem establishment was pushing him from the get-go. Go figure.

5. Too busy surfing at the beach to care
Of all the people in California and we get this guy. It's all about looks and glamour in this state. Makes me wonder if it wasn't planned so Arnie could win again since voters have a short memory. All those things he said against nurses, teachers, firemen, women and that dopey election he drug us through last year....down the hole. Now Arnie's the good guy giving money back to the school he took and that global warmning bill he signed and yet he'll continue to drive his Hummer.

6. Ya know he seemed pretty aggressive during the primary campaign
but he's turned into the invisible man recently. Unfortunately, "they" did not choose Angelides. "We" as in the California electorate, did so. At this point I'm not even sure I want Angelides to win - the Legislature will remain overewhelmingly Dem and pretty much put the kibosh on any shit that Gov. Titzengrabber tries to pull off. If a Dem won, he would be scathingly criticized for the fiscal, infrastructure, and social train wreck that's looming on the horizon here. Let the shit hit the fan on Ahnuld's watch.

8. Actually the party establishment supported Angelides early on, effectively
making him the party's pick and discouraging others who wanted to stay in their good graces from running. Westly was the outsider in the Dem primary.

After the primary Angelides' campaign effectively disappeared from public view for months. Maybe due to lack of funding, and if so why was that? What happened? It was strange. Couldn't be complacent while Arnie gets free publicity and "remade" his image after his initiative debacle.

7. I've only seen 1-2 of his campaign ads.
As opposed to the many that Ah-Nold has out there.
And Angelides'ads are weak and vague. He's the worst candidate out there for CA Dems. No Charisma and virtually invisible.

Who said that CA has a majority of "blue" voters?

9. That's all we Dems have in CA. We need a revolution.
The Dem establishment in CA is just a pig trough.

10. still recovering from the primary
the battle with Westly in the primary took its toll. don't count out organized labor in CA, though. Angelides is much more charming than Davis, who won twice, and the nurses, firefighters, teachers, police, et al. are no fans of Schwarzenegger.

13. I agree with you...
...I supported Westly as the only one of the two who had a shot at taken down der Gropenfuhrer...

But frankly, I had serious reservations about both.
