That article is 4 pages long...every line is chilling. It should have been Newsweek's cover story instead of Foley....

Seriously, the world's priorities make me go :wow:

1. Yes - Foley is covering up too much serious news.
Good of you to draw attention to important matters that need more eyeballs.

3. I've followed these dissappearing frog stories since the 90's
the speculation has been high that big environmental changes were occuring but it was hard to pinpoint the cause. Her is more evidence of the cascading and unpredictable changes that Global climate change causes. The next big worry is the effect on Sea plankton and the chances that the whole oceanic eco-system could swirl into upheaval.

5. indeed, and it'll take something bigger than Katrina
before the world really goes, oh my God, this is serious, and then the cost and time to change will be expensive and short.

It's like all the environmental cleanup that occured in the 70's and 80's, things got alot better but then people got complacent and started complaining about the cost. Do we really need to go back to Ohio rivers on fire and entire towns evacuated like Love canal to realize protecting and cleaning the environment is important?

6. Yeah the reaction to Katrina was interesting
It was as though for the first time it sank in that this stuff is real and not some "hippie nonsense" :eyes: (never mind how much science goes into it...)

7. Programs! Can't comprehend a Great Extinction without a program!

http://amphibiaweb.org/declines/declines.html

Amphibians, a unique group of vertebrates containing over 6,000 known species, are threatened worldwide. A recent assessment of the entire group (globalamphibians.org) found that nearly one-third (32%) of the world’s amphibian species are threatened, representing 1,856 species. Amphibians have existed on earth for a very long time (~300 million years), yet very recently (the last several decades) nearly 168 species are believed to have gone extinct and at least 2,469 (43%) species are declining in population, indicating that the number of threatened species will probably continue to rise (Stuart et al. 2004).

It's so fuckin bad.............................................
