Friend or foe. What the hell are we afraid of? We talk to Pakistan, India, China, Russia, and refuse to talk to Iran or N. Korea...as we refused to talk to Saddam as the sovereign leaders of a nation. It makes no sense. If we have the most to worry about with Iran and N.Korea, why won't we talk with them directly? Maybe we are only the #1 military in the world and not the #1 nation?

1. What do mean by "#1 Nation" anyway?
It's hard to answer your question because I have no idea what you mean by that

2. We ARE #1 in locking people up.
We have more per capita locked up than any other country on the planet and we are getting pretty close to #1 in violent crime per capita (not counting war zones) Unfortunately we are not #1 in education, healthcare or standard of living.

3. I think you've got it wrong.
We're willing to talk to anyone ... even Kim Jong Il and Amadinejad ... BUT ONLY AFTER they jump through all the hoops we demand they jump through.

Illogical, isn't it. We want to talk to them about abandoning their pursuit of nuclear weapons but before we deign to sit down with them mano-a-mano, we demand they stop all work on their nuclear programs first and threaten them with sanctions and worse if they do not comply. Kinda like putting the cart before the horse ... but there is no horse to put the cart either before or after (considering that we have 0 credibility thanks to Dumbya).
