Oct 10 (Reuters) - Following are security and other developments in Iraq reported on Tuesday as of 1600 GMT:

Asterisk denotes a new or updated item.

*RAMADI - A U.S. airstrike on a building in western Ramadi killed seven insurgents, the U.S. military said in a statement. It said U.S. troops had earlier come under "extremely heavy fire" from the building.

*BALAD - Gunmen attacked the car of a senior Iraqi army officer, killing a bodyguard, in the town of Balad 80 km (50 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

*ISHAQI - Gunmen in a car killed three people and wounded one in the town of Ishaqi, 100 km (60 miles) north of Baghdad.

*MOSUL - Police found three bodies, one beheaded, in different districts of the northern city of Mosul. They had been shot and tortured, police said.

*TAL AFAR - Police found four bodies in the town of Tal Afar, 420 km (260 miles) northwest of Baghdad, police said.

*BAGHDAD - Gunmen in several cars kidnapped at least 11 worshippers on Monday as they were leaving a Sunni mosque in central Baghdad, police said. The Sunni Muslim Scholars Association put the figure at six.

BAGHDAD - A bomb placed under a car demolished a bakery in Baghdad's southern Doura district, killing 10 and wounding four, an Interior Ministry source said. Three other roadside bombs in Doura, the western district of Yarmouk, and Morocco Street in north Baghdad killed three policemen and wounded seven people, including four policemen, a ministry source said.

BAQUBA - Twelve people were killed in different districts of Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - A total of 60 bodies were found across Baghdad in the past 24 hours, an Interior Ministry source said. All of the bodies had gunshot wounds with some showing signs of torture.

NEAR FALLUJA - Police found the bodies of four people with gunshot wounds and tortured, near the Sunni town of Falluja, 50 km (35 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.

DIWANIYA - Gunmen killed a former member of Saddam Hussein's ousted Baath Party in the southern city of Diwaniya, 180 km (112 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

LATIFIYA - A roadside bomb exploded near a minibus carrying a coffin killing its driver in the small town of Latifiya, just south of Baghdad, police said.

NEAR HILLA - Gunmen killed a policeman on Monday near the city of Hilla, 100 km (60 miles) south of Baghdad, and a roadside bomb near the headquarters of a minor political party killed one person near the city of Hilla, police said.

TIKRIT - A U.S. soldier died of wounds sustained on Sunday when a bomb exploded near his patrol, north of the town of Tikrit, 175 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad.

MAHAWEEL - A roadside bomb planted near a house wounded a man in Mahaweel, 30 km (20 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

MUSSAYAB - A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol and killed two policemen in Mussayab, about 60 km (40 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL - Gunmen killed a police captain in Mosul, and two roadside bombs targeting police patrols wounded five civilians in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

KIRKUK - Gunmen killed two policemen on Monday in the oil city of Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.
