Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 07:03 PM by KoKo01
alerts once a week now from here. It's probably stuff embedded with graphics from posters who don't even know the "worms" are there...but given that I'm "Dial-Up Dinosaur" and getting attack messages from my Anti-Virus for the first time in my almost 6 years on DU then it says that we all need to UPDATE...and beware that there is stuff out there that is tryng to infest us.

I got rid of my virus software and went to Avast.com, I got great anti-virus software for
free, it updates constantly in the background, no freezes, no weekly torture long updates,
it's free for residential users as long as you don't run a business out of your home and
it uses less memory. Why is it free, because people like it so much they buy it for their
business. It's great and believe me, I don't work for them, and they check constantly for
virus while you enjoy yourself.

6. I am telling you this is a great program
and it put's a cute little globe at the bottom of your sreen and each time it spins, it's
scanning, oh, and when you get the key, you just paste it in and you are registered,
took me 30 minutes to load, less than a minute to register.

4. Thanks for the Tip..will check out. But, my "anti-virus" was also working
in the background and picked up the attacks...so I feel I'm covered. I've not had my computer go down because I have constant updates from my "Anti-Virus/Spybot/LavaSoft."

I think from now to Election...we need all the protection we can get. Thanks.

7. I've been okay with it...but also use Spybot and Adaware. I'm everywhere
doing research on the Web..but I have "porn filter" on...and have yet to have a crash in all these years. So...I've done okay with what I have. I don't do Video Games or buy stuff off Internet, either. :D So, you can see I'm not like most folks who expose themselves to stuff I wouldn't. So...some need more "protection" than others. And, whatever one needs to use they should use it! (I feel like I'm doing a "birth control commercial for condoms) :eyes:

2. I had a nasty worm attack recently myself

And once one gets in, even more arrive. It's a worm/virus/trojan party! And they like to alter settings (at startup, I would even see the cursor immediately move across the screen to open "My Documents"). And getting rid of this stuff is like playing whack-a-mole!

I recommend downloading AVG Anti Spyware 7.5. It's shareware, but the trial version will do what you need it to do. Get it here:

8. I've had the weird "moving cursor thing." But a "reload" and because I'm
on "Dial Up" probably stops it...because I always can log on from a different connection...and I manage to get rid of it.

But...it means that I'm always slow...and sacrifice alot..in quickness with some video downloads and all that.:-(
