Edited on Wed Oct-18-06 04:06 AM by Philosoraptor
Or just a bit of whining?

I'm prepared emotionally and politically for either outcome in three weeks, I know how they are, and I know what they are capable of, and I'm fighting on win or lose.

So far the most violent reaction from Americans after having several elections stolen is lots of wailing and moaning and whining, which is fine, it's just not enough.

If say for instance they win despite what the numbers say, will we just say, 'oh well, there's always the next time'? Or will we get righteously pissed off?

This voting machine cheating can't go on forever can it? I guess it can if we allow it to.

1. No, things have changed.
People are pissed. They are unhappy. If their will is not done they will be more pissed. The rage is just slowly steaming. It takes a long time for a pot this big to boil though. People aren't going to be up in arms in the streets, they are just going to gently push and push and push until Bush has to make a VISIBLE move to oppress people. VISIBLE is the key. Then when people see what he is, his advantage will be lost, and the gates of hell will open for his crowd.

4. But see there's a difference here involving what's visible.
Since Bush got into office, congress has been passing laws and Bush has been sitting alone in a little room writing signing statements on his wee-wee saying that he is immune from laws. The American people have been ignoring it. For the American people to stop ignoring it, Bush has to actually go out and start imprisoning people in our communities, and the news must move through social networks. Then Bush will have to test the validity of what he wrote on his wee-wee in front of the American people. You see, the validity of laws comes from the American people, not the law makers. The law makers are only servants of our collective will. So in other words, Bush can talk whatever talk or make up whatever laws he wants outside of our attention, and he can convince himself that they are real. But Americans know their rights, and they know damn well that they don't come from a peice of paper.

5. Here's the thing, when * starts rounding up
"enemy combatants" and shipping them off to detention centers, how will we know? Do you think the press or MSM will tell us about it?

Don't count on it!

7. Its all about how much people believe in the legitimacy of BS laws.
Edited on Wed Oct-18-06 05:10 AM by lvx35
I mean, we're talking about troops, police officers, etc. The fascism only happens if enough believe that their rights are given by Bush. Its just a gut feeling but I think people are wise to what's going on at this point.

edit: its this kind of thing that gives the feeling. 16% believe the official 9/11 story.

3. This is a hard call where I live.

It is entirely possible that Repugs will win in Nevada, despite the notion that people here are tired of the GOP. They could pull it off easily here and blame it on a lot of things -- in the Senate race, Jack Carter against incumbent John Ensign -- Jack performed very poorly in the first of three debates last week. In the Congress, Jill Derby (D) is running on a campaign of "Giving Career Politicians the Boot" and yet she's been a Board of Regents elected (non-paid) Regent for 18 years; and she's advertising a support of ridding the inheritance tax for family farms, which, when you think about it, is really only a twisted ploy; she avoided putting a 'D' next to her name and the most liberal paper we have here, The Reno News and Review, just endorsed Heller because of these tactics that have made her appear more like a conservative and dishonest. She's running against Dean Heller, our current Repug SOS, who is actually quite liberal -- I could see him eking out a win even if the votes were rigged.

And, Dina Titus (D) who's running for Governor against Jim Gibbons who has name recognition for lazy voters and who's attacking her relentlessly for comments she made about the north (she's from Vegas) whereby she called our county a "sponge" and us all "rascals". At her debate with Gibbons, hosted by the University of Reno students, she said, "I wanted to thank the UNLV students for hosting this debate." That was only days before the annual UNR/UNLV game, a game many take very seriously here. She also wore red, UNLV colors. That might not seem so bad, but, people here like their local football.

Bottom line is it is almost easier for them to pull this off because there are many, many races going on simultaneously. Maybe Nevada is not a good example. Maybe we should be looking at races where Dems are slated to win big, then follow those. But, regionally, if a Dem in the East or Mid West who was slated to win loses, what do I do out here in the west?

edited for clarity, I hope

6. Hell no. If we are depending on the idiots and vegetables like I work
with and talk to every day, I should have said double triple hell no.

People are so politically ignorant anymore. It's like everyone flunked any American Government or Civics class they ever took. Or maybe the didn't take one because they sure as hell don't understand that they have a duty to the country and the kids that will take over after us to guard, defend, and preserve the rights and freedoms granted in the Constitution.

9. As the old saying goes: fool me once, shame on you. (2000)
Fool me twice shame on me. (2002)
Fool me three times, shame on me. (2004)
Fool me four times, shame on me. (2006?)

Most Americans, Democrats included, will not do too much. You will hear the screaming and yelling that we are mad as hell, but not much more will happen. Politicians will posture, but not much else will happen. The older I get, the more cynical I get, and not without reason.

stolen elections occur this time, there will be outrage--maybe even some street protests. If elections are obviously stolen there will be a reaction, and I expect even the media will participate in that.

I don't call any honest reaction to election fraud "whining" -- people do the best they can in a repressive, undemocratic society.

This coming election is a clear test of the election system as we have never had before. In many ways it's an unknown, and we will learn a lot about the degree of dysfunction. Get ready for a netstorm if not a streetstorm. People are watching this time.

12. Revolution?
Probably not.

There might be more protests - fuel added to that fire, more people getting involved in protesting electoral fraud and insecure black box voting and so on. But beyond that I suspect most people will shrug.
