Ken Lay conviction tossed! WTF?
Judge sims Lake of Houston has vacated the conviction of Lay on behalf of his estate. I'm not sure exactly what that'll do, but I think it's outrageous That he should now be considered innocent. I'll bet bushco is behind this.

1. The major effect will be to make it difficult for...

...Enron creditors to get any of the $44 million Lay embezzled back from his estate. Since he hasn't committed a crime, the proceeds of that crime can't be taken. Neat, eh?

2. Meanwhile, someone who looks a lot like Ken Lay is...
enjoying life down at the Bush compound in Paraguay.

4. Because if you steal millions you get to keep the money
Everybody knows that don't they?
And if you steal billions you are not even charged with a crime (as in the case of the S&L problem we had in the 80s)but punished by not being allowed to do it again for a few years.
I thought everyone knew that.

5. Of course. The bush** family know that from personal
experience. The taxpayers have bailed all the bush** boys out to the tune of millions while they always came out smelling like a rose.

6. That does not mean the money's safe at all.
It just means everyone will have to fight it out in civil court to get it. I doubt his estate will be worth more than 10 cents when all is said and done.

8. It was vacated because he didn't live long enough to appeal
..."Lay died before sentencing, before a final judgment could be entered, and before a notice of appeal could be filed," U.S. District Judge Sim Lake wrote in his opinion.

Citing well-established law, Lake wrote that "Lay's conviction must be vacated and that this action against him must be dismissed," Lake wrote.

9. Why do you think he committed suicide? Er, I mean of course,
why did he have a miraculously timed heart attack.

10. The judge had no choice
The law is very clear on this point. Lay died before his final chance for appeal. I suspect the judge wasn't happy about it either.

11. This was NOT some conspiracy. The law is
very clear here. He died before all avenues of appeal were completed. Does it suck? Yeah, but it's not really all that big of a deal in the end. The guy spent the last 5 years of his life under tremendous stress and spent his fortune on legal bills and in the end it killed him.
