If one is against the outing of gay hypocrites with power...
...one must offer alternative actions to deal with them effectively.

Suggestions?

2. I agree, because I believe there ARE no alternatives.
However, I'd like to give those against the outing of gay hypocrites a chance to offer solutions, because I could be wrong.

3. vote them out and vote in someone who isn't anti-gay
If an closeted gay official takes anti-gay positions and is elected, what happens when they're outed? Maybe they resign, maybe they lose in the next primary. But who gets elected? Another rw'er with anti-gay positions, since that's what the voters who elected the first guy liked. YOu have to change voters minds and/or get more unbiased voters to come to the polls. Outing alone doesn't change anything.

4. Now Mark Foley is going to reveal the priest...
that allegedly molested him as a teenager. Does anyone else have mixed feelings about this?

8. I don't have mixed feelings about it, but ...
... I bet its going to cause alot of internal tooth-gnashing within the various branches of the GOP!

One of their own (Foley) attacking the church ?? Oh my.
Then they'll have to decide - who's the perv ?
Predatory Foley or the Predatory Priest - both of whom seem to have been protected by their own 'brotherhoods' (assuming the Priest story is true) - one, neither, or both?

And what does that say - on a couple levels - about the Republican party, that they not only
protect their own who exploit teens/children, but also court the votes of (pander to) others who do the very same thing?

Family values, 'dignity in the White House', the grownups in charge ... all up in smoke.

5. Yeah. Win elections.
And enjoy the victories without the hollow feeling that comes with doing something morally questionable.

11. Will, how did you feel about outing George Allen as Jewish?
Thanks.

12. The same way I feel about outing anyone who is gay.
Like the act of "outing" presupposes wrongdoing or nefarious behavior. To "out" someone as Jewish is to intimate that being Jewish is bad or wrong. Ditto the gay thing...and yes yes yes, I've heard all the "hypocrisy" arguments. They don't wash with me, any more than the arguments I've seen here saying that no straight person has a moral standing on this issue washes with me.

13. You. Don't. Get. It.
When someone LIES about himself, using the belief of others in his LIE to harm those to whom he is related, HIS LIE MUST BE REVEALED TO THOSE WHO SUPPORT HIM, AS THEIR SUPPORT IS BASED ON A LIE.

George Allen happily curries the favor of those HE KNOWS are rabid anti-Semites. His MOTHER is Jewish and by Jewish law, SO IS HE. YES, those who support his racist stances NEED TO KNOW THAT. They can then decide if he is "THEIR Jew." (I grew up black in white America and was often referred to as "one of the good ones.")

The GOP is INFESTED with RoyCohns. This crap has been going on for DECADES. Sex slaves, human traffiking, pedophilia, J.Edgar Hoover in drag... NONE of it has to do with normal human variables of sexual orientation; it is rather the mix of prohibitions, money, power and testostorone (which we know can be deadly). The closet be STANKING! Open the door and ALL the windows!!! They are a sick, self-hating subset of the gay community and NOT its essence.

As this board is predominantly white, very few have been willing to engage on the issue of "passing." Having been burned by a man "passing" for straight AND by a family member "passing" for white, I must state unequivocally that the the ISSUE is the LYING HYPOCRISY. The PAIN and HARM are things with which you are most likely unacquainted.

14. And in the meantime we suck it up?
No, thank you.

What other hypocrisies do you think we shouldn't expose?

10. Absolutely not.
There is no better way. Hypocrisy must be exposed.

If the small minds want to make it about "them homo-sexoools" and not about hypocrisy...to hell with them...they're too stupid to figure it out anyway. You couldn't change their minds with a claw-hammer.

If every gay person I know is fine with it (and they're the only ones that should be asked if they mind) and in fact are encouraging this...then I will fully support outing self-loathing hypocrites.
