This is my student who was killed in Iraq....
This is Pfc. Shelby Feniello of Connellsville, PA, who was killed Monday, October 9th in Iraq. He was 25 years old and planned on getting married as soon as he got home.

This is Shelby returning home yesterday for the last time. He will be buried on Saturday.

This is Shelby's, fiance, stepfather, and mother. Shelby was an only child.

May bush and his chicken-hawk buddies burn in an unthinkable hell.

it takes, no matter the cost (blah, blah, blah) in treasury and human suffering, lives, limbs and brain parts, for there's oil to be harvested, $6 trillion, possibly $10 trillion just in Iraq to inure to the almost exclusive benefit of four large oil companies and: just think of all those natural resources in the Caspian Sea basin and surrounding region.

Sincerest condolences to the fiance, parents, other family members and friends: they best of all know the price being paid to implement the PNAC vision of empire, oil, and hegemony so we will have the oil necessary to fuel our gas-guzzling SUVs, albeit at greatly jacked-up and gamed oil prices.

65. my thanks as well
Of all the injustices brought about by this insane war the one that grates on me the most is the frightwingers insistence that to honor those already dead we must kill some more of ours, but they steadfastly refuse to acknowledge those who've made the ultimate sacrifice choosing instead to cargo freight them home under cover of darkness. There can be no retribution sufficient for those who've caused this suffering.

The personal aspect of this horrible war needs to be shown. I'm very sorry for your loss. You're right that Bush & co. are chickenhawks. Maybe if our leaders set a standard that to go to war, someone close to them should volunteer to go, wars would be limited to the survival of the planet.

I have thought on several occasions that maybe there should be a law that no member of Congress can cast a vote for war unless they send a close relative to battle--and I mean the nitty-gritty battle and not some desk job out of the theater of operation. I bet we would damn well see that Congress would be more responsible before they sent other people's family members off to kill or be killed if it were their family member was on the line as well.

37. Bush has destroyed so many lives.
It breaks my heart to see these pictures. I attended a funeral for one of our local Marines who was the same age as my son. I will never forget the terrible grief in his mother's face as I hugged her. Words cannot express the anguish this family was experiencing. Bush will never understand the terrible sacrifice the troops and their families have made and are making, as if he really cares. It is unforgivable. I am one of the lucky ones, my son went to Iraq twice and made it home safely twice. I am forever grateful.

I remember watching the news during the Vietnam era and wondering if the war would ever end; and back then I had to worry about my father returning home safe and sound as he was also a Marine. I was so sick of hearing the death count every night on the evening news. Now, I feel like it is happening all over again. We never seem to learn.

I was against this war before it started. So many have died for a lie.

A Poem That I Wrote In A High Fever

You who are lengthening your lives
with the best doctors and the best medicines
remember those who are shortening their lives
with the wars
that you in your long lives are not
preventing.

You who are again screwing
the younger generations
and winking at each other
the winking of your eyelids
is like the chill of the swinging shutters
in an empty house.

I don't believe in capital punishment, but if I were judging the whole Bush cabal for their war crimes, I would sentence them to life in a small cell lined with the pictures of 3,000 grieving families so that they couldn't look anywhere without seeing pictures like the ones you posted.

63. This is what our government does for us.
This is what they bring us: heartache and suffering. As George Carlin points out, they don't care about us. They don't care if we live or die. They do not take such things into consideration when formulating their policies. It is time for our government to change.

66. I am sad for all the pain that our government
brings upon us all. When are people going to realize that military solutions only cause more suffering and solves nothing. Military should only be used for DEFENSE of our own soil. Any use outside our own country should be in conjunction with the UN, thru the UN. This young man had to make some hard choices in his short life, and, unfortunately joining the military was a bad one for him. Do you ever see in the military commercials a coffin draped in a flag? NO! Its all hype and glamor. All that glamor and college money they promise means nothing! A college education should be free to all who want it. Our country has to wake up! We need to get out of other countries, focus on our own for a change. Setup a Dept of Peace to boost our image to other nations by helping to create, not destroy. Bullying other nations don't help. While we are bullying everyone else, our own country is falling into decay morally and physically. So many are dieing for nothing, is this our destiny, an endless series of photos showing the heartache of a nation? Evil can only be defeated by the power of good. If you add evil to evil you just get more evil, then feed it with hatred and revenge. My heart goes out to all who suffer from the evil our world unleashes on itself. For each sacrifice, our species is that much closer to its own demise and its failure to fulfill its potential as a promising contribution to the development of our universe.

it's in the movie, when all the soon-to-be Handmaids are lying on cots in the dark barracks. the protagonist says to the woman laying next to her... "my name is ____________." that woman turns to the next and says, "my name is __________________."

i want to KNOW ALL THE NAMES of these kids. i want to know their stories. i want to know why they died. i want everyone to know.

69. Just damn.
I had a student who was an Iraq veteran--tried to get him help, but he dropped out and disappeared, with no job, no income, no way to get to the VA in Atlanta.

Just damn.

70. I can't stop crying ...
This is a personal tragedy for those that loved this man and this is a national tragedy for those of us that despise this senseless war!

71. That last pic made me cry. I have 3 sons, 24, 20 and 16.
I'll jeopardize my freedom to keep them from a similar fate.
Ask these people if bu$h's little schtick about looking for WMD's under the podium was funny.

72. FATHER: "Those boys do a lot of good for us"
This is the problem. Many ditto heads accept these offerings to the meat grinder as the sound strategy of "fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here".
It's enough for these deluded folks to believe that and they passively accept this waste of life.

Pfc. Feniello joined the military in 2001 shortly after Sept. 11. His father said his son wanted "to fight the good fight and help get it done."

He said his son often talked about not having adequate armor on the Humvees the soldiers depended on in Iraq. He said Pfc. Feniello was encouraged by the reinforced armor added to the sides of vehicles, but more armor was also needed on the undercarriages.

"He said the Humvees had no protection," his father said. "He didn't like driving them because they didn't have enough underneath protection."

"I feel for everybody still over there," said Mr. Feniello. "Those boys do a lot of good for us."

Some day we will run out of Americans willing to make this pointless sacrifice.
