My neighbor, in the military, has never been to Iraq and is not going.
He says his job will keep him here at home. WHY??? He is one of the top recruiters for the Marine Corps.

1. Friendly convincing liars are too important.
they won't send a good recruiter oversees.

2. He's "CRF" -- a deal with the devil, made years ago
"Career Recruiting Force"--it's all they do. EVER. They get a little extra for it, too.

He's a salesman, not a serviceman.

He shovels the fuel into the furnace...a lousy job in peacetime, a dispicable one in wartime.

10. This dumb draftee had less then sterling encounters with recruiters but
from what I saw and heard, recruiters volunteered the position two years because it looked good on their resume and helped advance their career. They often represented themselves and bona fide soldiers with combat experience, but I discovered they were compulsive liars so I really don't know what to believe.

12. At least during the Nam era, AF recruiting duty
was a special duty assignment outside of your career AFSC (MOS). You applied, sometimes were picked, trained, then worked it for a specific time, 4 years as memory serves. After the tour, business as usual.

4. Asshole. Tell him congratulations.
Our friend has been in the National Guard for a long time. Just got back from Afghanistan.

Where'd he get shipped off to the other day? Iraq. The only reason he went is so that he could keep his pension.

I have a really bad feeling. Am trying not to concentrate on it, but if he makes it back here, it will be a miracle.

7. I don't now about his conscience BUT
he and his wife are not friendly neighbors. They keep to themselves and
and keep their curtains and drapes drawn. They are moving. I thought he might be going overseas and that is how I found out what he does for the Corps.

11. Hiding is their way
Most go after the kids with low grades and no hope. Black Schools are the target most of the time. Down South they go after redneck kids with records. They promise you the world but when you come home your tossed away like garbage.

9. When I worked at a child sponsorship org., we were sent to the Dominican
Republic because the directors felt that my colleagues and I should see, firsthand, the grinding poverty the children lived in and the very real help they were getting from sponsorship.

It seems to me that military recruiters should be sent to Iraq, so they know what they're talking about when they lie to teenagers. They should have to face, if only for a short time, the hell that they're sending our sons and daughters to die in.
